Hello as i sit here listening to some tunes on my 2 year old plantronics (dont know the model number) ive come to the conclusion that they are abit pap, i think i shall buy a new head set, mainly for music and gaming (no mic needed)

what should i be looking at for best bang for buck ?

EDIT: wireless might be fun (but not essential)

I got a pair of wirels philips headphones from a highstreet electronics place for £30 :p

really good actually usee 2 AAA batries so i just have 2 pair and a small usb charger and leapfrog them so no time waiting for recharge etc.

sound quality is very good for wireless and for £30, bass is a little weedy though, but the advantage of wireless is great.

Otherwise look at sennheiser's (sp?) range they do some great headphones.

Goldring DR50s are seriously good for the money. Can be had for £15 new, I believe.

They're quite detailed and analytical sounding though. The iGrados have a lot more bass but are less detailed.

Goldrings or iGrados. The Goldrings are said to match the much more expensive Senn 580s and i read somewhere that the iGrados use the same drivers as the SR60s the only difference is they're shipped to China to be assembled and they have an extremely cheap neck band.

The Goldring DR150s remind me of the HD580s but really, they are not as good. Match the HD580s with a decent source and amp and the DR150s just don't scale as well. With the cheaper HD595 it's closer, with the DR150s having the edge IMO.

The cheaper DR50 and DR100 really can't hold a candle to the HD580s at all. Not all Goldrings are created equal.

I know you need no mic but....

Creative Fata1ity headset, the mics detachable via a 3.5 push in jack. They have a Very nice base and are very comfortable.

£25-£29 depending where you buy from

NO NO NO...different league to the other suggestions.

Koss porta pro, IGrados and Goldring DR150 (after burn in, they sound watery at first) are your best bets out of the ones suggested. The DR50 and 100 dont hold a candle to the DR150.

If you only want to spend ~£20, then the Koss Porta Pros are standouts here; they're good enough they've been in production for well over a decade, check out the reviews, great headphones for the cash :D

If you want cordless then grab the Sennheiser RS120's.. should be available for around £50-£60. I own some high end HD600 corded headphones too and, whilst the HD600's are better, the RS120 aren't that far away in terms of quality, which is amazing considering they're cordless. Excellent battery life too.. Go the extra £20, they're worth it :)

Having owned a few of the headphones that are getting a mention, I'd put the order something like this.

Goldring DR150 >> iGrado = DR100 = DR50.

Of the three, I'd put on par with each other, it just comes down to price and preference. I sold the DR100s and DR50s but still have the iGrados, as they make great gym / jogging phones.
