Recently for a couple of months now my pc seems to trip at random times, i have eliminated the PSU as i have fitted a spare one which hasn't solved the problem.
the other suspect could be the main socket, as when i fitted a usb 2 gang switch we used a 2 mil earth wire, which would be better to use 4 mil instead.

Hi as in tripping? do you mean from breaker or pc switching off?
If breaker at fuse board open socket and check wiring where you have been in! are they nipped up tight as if loose can trip as not seeing load properly also could be face plate has a fault if usb type!
The earth would only come into play if a dead short/wires crossed etc and would register time to break if doing Part P test
