PC tries to start for 1 sec, stops, tries again, stops...

tripel channel ram is the exact same sticks you get in a dual channel kit , and dual channel memory is the exact same stick you get if you buy a single stick.

they are just "matched" meaning the specs are the same and they are garunteed to work together this doesnt mean if you buy 3 random sticks of the exact same memory they wont work together in triple channel because the odds are they will
 
it seems i did exactly the same thing as you awhile back... you gotta plug both connectors into the mother board as shown in the picture above in mig's post.
 
Yeah, you were right guys - I hadn't plugged in the 4+4 connector. The cable is split into a 4-pin and a 8-pin but on my motherboard 4 of the holes were covered with a little plastic cap, so I just plugged in the 4-pin one. What's the difference between using only 4 pins over all 8?

I now have everything set up and running Win 7.
