Im about to buy a 680i mobo as I need something that supports SLI. The one I'm getting doesnt say wether its pci ex 2.0 compliant - if its not, is this really going to matter in a years time if I want to upgrade?
If you want a month or so the new 790i boards will be out - that are 45nm compatable and 2.0 PCI-E and SLi.
Or if your not to be using penryn ECT you could get a the 780i that is a 680i board with an extra chip to give it 2.0PCI-E.
ATi are already selling the 38XX as PCI-E 2.0.
I think it will be a big thing in the next in GFX. as it can supple a larger amout of power through the PCI-E socket, and i expect some cards will be needing this soon - Poss even the 9800 series.
