Peaceful, immersive game with beautiful graphics ?

For some reason this had me in stitches. :D
Same league as;

Appreciate some Rembrandt,
Listen to some Mozart,
Bludgeon someone to death with a *****,
Eat some foie gras..

I hadn't really noticed 'til you pointed it out! lol'ing like a lunatic now!:D

FSX is a great way to really get into something that can be both tense and complex, yet at other times peaceful or routine. The modding/tweaking side will keep you busy for a while too lol.

I just bought Black & White 2 and I find it quite relaxing. The graphics have held up well. It's a God game (literally).

Here's a screenie:

Man i got that the day it came out, great game. Maybe I should dig it out...... oh yeah I dont have an optical drive anymore... ah well lol

Assassin's Creed 2 maybe? Not the most peaceful, but looks pretty good and you can just wander round exploring and climbing.

I missed that too, and now I'm giggling insanely.

I'd give Minecraft a shout, I'm very picky with how games look and I've reallly fallen in love with it.

I chortled when people first suggested minecraft, but so many people have now, I am confused. Is it really a game that showcases a card's powerful graphics? It uses 1 metre sized pixels! *baffled*

I recently bought a Toxic 5850 and I'm blown away by the graphics and performance (I upgraded from an 8800gts).

I'm looking for some game reccomendations to help showcase the cards potential, with an immersive environment and peaceful gameplay. No frags, headshots or tactical nukes !

any ideas bar Oblivion ?

Nice card.

If I was you I'd get Mafia II, even though it is a gangster game it ticks just about all the right boxes. If you have 4gb ram and a i3,5,7 something cpu or AMD equivalent then set all the settings to high, and enjoy.

To the guy who plays GTA 4, get yourself Mafia II and set everything to high, you'll think you're playing a next gen game.

Cool, I've got a Phenom II 955 and 4gb OCZ platinum, I might get the game during the week. I'm also going to try Anno 1404 and a few others. I've spent most of today cruising around ArmA II worlds in a little bird just taking in the scenery, I must be getting old !

Another x3: Terran Conflict vote here. Vicious game to learn, but very pretty to look at while your flying round in circles, mashing keys and wondering WTF am I supposed to be doing?

Another vote for GTA IV. Forget shooting down and blowing up the gaff. Dress up nicely, get in a convertible and take a slow cruise around the city playing some good tunes. I do it all the time.

Did that in Vice City with Wave 103 on the radio as the sun went down. One of those gaming moments that stick with me. :o

Then in between songs I'd bust a few caps. Perfection.

The added bonus of it being set in the early eighties was no ******* cousin phoning up every five minutes and ruining it all. :D

Minecraft wont show off the graphics card at all but... There are times when you forget how simple the graphics are.
Looking through a blocky valley at the sunrise with some epic waterfalls at each side, good times.

Test Drive Unlimited could be worth a look. Must be able to pick it up pretty cheap now and it can be as peaceful as you like.

Anno 1404. Very peaceful and addictive strategy game, one of the best games I've played in a very long time.

You can play without any opponents and go at your own pace building up and setting islands.

The Hunter is quite peaceful - providing you don't shoot any of the wildlife haha
I wasn't overly keen on the hunter as a game (couldn't find any ruddy animals) but it really is astonishing to wander around for hours in, it has properly stunning graphics and landscapes. The tracking part is slow enough to qualify as peacefull too, despite having a great big stonking rifle.

As for minecraft, these suggestions aren't jokes. It won't tax your graphics card, but the reason people are suggesting it is because it really is an spectacular world to explore, one that you have the power to totally manipulate, (through back braking labour). It makes other "open world sandbox" games look like side scrollers, and it has it's own unique, naive but charming style. It looks beautiful because the world actually means something to you.

Is there an option in FSX to make it REALLY easy to fly stuff?

Never been any good at flying vehicles in games (can just about grasp flying in the Battlefield series), but I would love to go flying around NZ.

Would be using Xbox controller.

who mentioned stalker ? is that a sick joke haha? it might look nice but walking around in that game at night in the wilderness, but its the least peaceful thing i've experienced in a game in a while. its probably the most ominous game i've played actually. first of all its pitch black - all you have is a headlamp or crap nightvision , then you hearing eerie noises... and then all of a sudden a vampire thing jumps at you all tooth and claw from absolutely no where and rips your head off... feels bit like blair witch at times actually..
