My partner has changed jobs and has the option to switch her pension over.

To do so we need to talk to a financial advisor that understands them.

Ive been googling but I've never required such advice before and I don't know what I should expect or who is likely to know the most.

The transfer is from government funded scheme into the local government pension.

The quoted values make changing look better, but I'm highly suspicious of pensions especially as they seem to be written in some special code that I'm never 100% sure I've understood.

Or just look carefully at the details of each scheme, understand them in the context of the options you're considering and make your own decision. For the great majority of people, i.e. people without pension benefits accrued before the 1990s, pensions are not complex if you invest a little time in really trying to understand them. Just ask yourself some basic questions too:

- what have I got
- what will I have if I move
- do I have to move (answer is normally no)

I had a local council based pension (not a lot in it), I considered moving it into a different pension pot Aegon (I think), from what I can remember the fees involved were pretty much what was already in the pot so I decided to leave it.
