people getting your name wrong....

my name is Ross, but I get called Scott by so many different people, this has happened all through my life, right from infant school 'til now
I can't see any relation between the 2 names, and I don't think I look like a Scott!

anyone else have this ?
different people calling you the same name, but the wrong one!

I'm called Ross and I too get called Scott sometimes.

people are convinced that my name (Rick) is short for Richard, and then ask me if 'I'm sure?... you're real name isn't Richard??' no. Just Rick.

It's all the Richards out there who call themselves Rick that this stems form I think, Dicks ;) :P

People at work call me by my surname in emails.

we use surname, firstname on the system, and my surname could be a first name

but

EVERYONES NAME IS SURNAME, FIRSTNAME.

I am known by my middle name, so anyone who doesn't know me will call me by my first name which I usually ignore as it just doesn't register as 'me' I also worked with a lad called Dave for over 11yrs, everyone in work knew him as Dave or Davy, went to his Wedding and was amazed to find out his name was Mike and none of his family or friends knew him as Dave at all, that was a weird one!

I was known as David/Davy till I was 15 then I saw my birth certificate... David was my middle name, Daniel is my actual forename. Hated being called Davy so started a fresh at 6th form as Daniel. I have family who still call me David/Davy and old family friends so it can get confusing at times.

My surname is a fun one though. It's French and 10 characters long. I'm just your average northerner, don't know any Frenchies so people don't believe it's my name has been interesting with the police when not carrying ID. Gets some great spellings on mail and cold callers usually need help spitting it out.

My grandparents who I live with are the worst for this. It's usually Mark, Paul, Matthew, Stuart and finally Daniel.

-_-

My Grandmother is much worse!

She has 4 children and 9 grandchildren, the one she wants is frequently the one at the end!

Stuart? That totally breaks the pattern!

From the Gospel according to Stuart:

Oh I know it hurts now Brian, but look at the bright side: you have some new material for that novel you've been writing. You know...the novel you've been workin' on? You know the the one, uh, you've been workin on for three years? You know the novel. Got somethin' new to write about now. You know? Maybe a, maybe a main character gets into a relationship and suffers a little heartbreak? Somethin' like what... what you've just been through? Draw from real life experience? Little, little heartbreak? You know? Work it into the story? Make the characters a little more three dimensional? Little, uh, richer experience for the reader? Make those second hundred pages really keep the reader guessing what's going to happen? Some twists and turns? A little epilogue? Everybody learns that the hero's journey isn't always a happy one? (Voice returns to normal.) Oh, I look forward to reading it.

My name is Maria but that seems to be hard to pronounce or something so 99.9% of new people that I meet end up calling me Marie. Even my family in-law call me that :( It's not my name ffs. For some reason Marie sticks with them and Maria doesn't, even after correcting them..

Yeah I'm not going to tell you guys what my name is.

My second name and the name I use is Chris, my first name has been confined to history.

Safe to say you won't guess it either, mainly because I can almost guarantee you've never heard, seen or met someone called it.
