people who buy a toy

My brother had two original Millennium falcons when he was a kid. One he played with, and one that he never opened, and still hasn't been opened.

Must be worth a bit now...

Very cool collection.

Are you a toy collector or just a serious Aliens fan?

I dont collect a huge amount, Aliens is my favorite film and the figures are great.
Also from Hot toys I've got:

Leon S Kennedy
John Connor
Chris Redfield
Jill Valentine

I've got a Takara Deunan Knute, Takara Masterpiece Megatron and Starscream, A load of Macross Valkyrie fighters (some still in boxes some not) and a load of Kubricks and Mez-itz movie tie ins, and a funky little Bayonetta that has a shed load of little guns with it.

Its mostly just stuff I've seen and gone "thats quite nifty" and bought it on a whim.
I really want a Hot Toys Iron Man and a Batman, but they are silly prices at that the minute.

I got this 12" luke from ebay for $15 sadly US Postal bashed the box so i'll probably take it out when i get my game room sorted.

I have a few models currently in their original boxing, once I've sorted out the shelving/bookcases in my room, I shall be taking them out to put on display. I'm not one for buying things and leaving them in their boxes. Seems rather pointless, but hey, some people like to eat poo, so to each his/her own I guess.

Good man, I absolutely still love Aliens - I did have a few figues from back in the day but they are long since lost. This thread has made me want to collect boxed figures! Is that website you mentioned the best place then? What about forbidden planet?

Thats the company that makes them, the best place to get them from is www.xl-shop.com , shipping takes 3 to 4 days but they have the best prices and a large variety of collectable stuff.

And you need a lot of luck, very few things become or get cult status. Or get a sentimental value.

For example I bet a lot of the old Transformers toys from the eighties are worth something now, but the new ones will probably decrease in value to being valued at nothing.

I’ve got a Mamod steam engine that was bought when a shop was closing down and that’s never been out of the box. I forgot about it. :D

I have one of these in my loft, mint condition (I think) in it's box.

Those will be worth quite a bit. Live steam/Mamod stuff is highly sought after these days.

I got a 1950's tin plate clockwork speedboat in perfect condition with perfect box and even the key from the bay a few years ago for £4.50 delivered. Took it out of the box once to have a look at it and then carefully packed it away again. Did a internet search and similar things have been going in specialist toy auctions for £70-120!!
