People who don't move over when you indicate to move out on a Motorway

I hate people (women) who come straight off the slip and fly into the outside lane because it has less cars in it than the left hand lane, more annoying on dual carriageways than motorways.

Also, there's a 3 lane DC here, but the inside lane isnt really a lane its a long slip road from one entrance to an exit, I have to come onto that slip road, then off again, no need to actually go onto the DC and it boils my **** if I'm sat behind someone pottering along at 40-50mph only for them to get 2 miles down the road then join the DC right at the place where it starts to exit.

The Passat driver who decided that he was unable to match my level of patience with the slow moving traffic in lane 3 is typical of the drivers I see.

Scene: 3 Lanes of slowish motorway traffic. Outside lane is travelling at about 60-65. I'm maintaining a decent stopping distance from the idiots in front insistent on tailgating each other.

I admit the middle lane to my left was clear however there was slower moving traffic shortly ahead in that lane so my intention was to follow the traffic in lane 3, wait for it to pull in and accelerate to a more reasonable speed and continue my journey.

Mr Passat decides this does not fit with his travel plans so removes himself from my rear bumper, undertakes me and attaches himself to the rear bumper of the next car.

As the traffic clears he then decides to sit in lane 3 despite no traffic in either inside line for a mile or so. Everything within me wanted to undertake and leave him but I restrained.

Hate my journey into work at the moment :(

Can we have them all killed or something?

You shouldn't have a problem bruv you drive a 5-Series.

This and people who dont move over from the inside lane when you are joining from a slip road.

:(

Or those that think the sliproad means that they should join the motor ASAP and not even wait for a gap, just brake so the people behind you have to slow down and then barge their way onto the motorway!

How about those that refuse to overtake from the middle lane, when you're in that lane overtaking someone else?

They come zooming up at 85+ slow down to 65-70 even if you're overtaking a long line of traffic, they refuse to overtake even though it is safe to, then they speed off again.

I find over here peoples joining discipline is much better than the Uk presumably because of how much freeway joining you do. It's pretty much incumbent on the driver in the lane to change or create a space for the slip-roader to join. Unless you're an 18-wheeler then everything fits around you.

Counteracting that is the cruise control brigade causing 65mph convoys as two cars will sit side by side quite happily oblivious to the growing queue of traffic behind.

I thought the onus was on you to slow to merge behind them?

Some people take the biscuit though.

Well duh, thats what we end up doing. Duh

So what's the point of this rant then? It is not exactly the end of the world, is it?

Personally I think jamming on your indicators and expecting somebody to suddenly jump out of your way because you want to change lane is terribly arrogant, but that's just me :).

Who said it was the end of the world? I spent 13 seconds creating a thread, why not?

No, it's exactly how Motorways work. If somebody wishes to move into the lane you are occupying and the lane beside you is empty, then you indicate and move into that lane to allow them out.

It isnt rocket science.

I have found this to be something that depends where in the country you are. When I was in Boston I rarely came across it. In more rural areas I have found people are more clueless and tend to cause merging/blending issues.
