Well the initial idea was to end the night with the dinner, so got other things planned first. Plus we've always found very late night dining more romantic, though it does seem quite difficult to find places in the UK who will let you seat late at night. Am flexible though, could always eat first then the other things, but just prefer to end with food rather than start with food. :)

No5 is nice been there for lunch a few times (same people as new pub in otterbourne called white horse which is also nice)

Corner House is indeed the old forester but now run by new people who also run Green Man, St James Tavern, and the Mucky Duck (old white swan) which are all nice pubs too! although a bit of an Empire lol

yeah, I go to St JT quite often, they do a quiz on Tuesday nights, not been in the Mucky since they took it over or the Green man, might have to go on a bit of a crawl round there sometime.

Yeah only trouble with pompey is that we live in Stubbington and by the time we've driven round to pompey we could have essentially driven to southampton which has a few more options for an evenings entertainment :)
