People who swing out before turning corners

Why do people do this?

I was driving home from a friends house last night. Three lanes, me in the middle and a car to my left. Car to my left indicated left (at this stage I was slightly behind). As he slowed to take the corner I came beside him. As he took the corner he swung out, almost touching my car and forcing me to quickly move over.

Why? You don't need to swing out AT ALL to take a corner.

ANyone else get really annoyed with this?

If you swuing out too then you wouldnt have come anywhere near him

Yup. As a biker I especially avoid women drivers who are about to turn, they swing out wildly sometimes.

I do it to get into my driveway, but that's due to my cars stupidly bad turning circle, plus there's usually no one about.

You seem to be coming quite the regular down here

Aye, most people take left hand turns far too quickly IMO, and usually end up cutting into the other side of the road of the road they are turning into.

I'd guess thats why he/she swung out.

i used to frequent these parts quite a lot. Got bored with all the arguing though Plus I don't drive a Mondeo so I was pretty much always in the wrong

Its not Mondeos any more, Its now gone more upper class and every thing is 330 BMWs

Unless you have a Mondeo / BMW / MX5 your in trouble, luckly i have an MX5 so i fit right in

Ref the corner taking thingy i hate ppl who swing out but i do it sometimes when i have a idiot behind me trying it on for a race, simply so i can get round the corner without slowing down....

I do it on some corners, you have to if a car is waiting to pull out and you don't want to kerb your rear wheels.

Obviously I check for other cars first though

Yeah, its stupid when they do that. I always stay well behind or keep a bit of a gap. Rather avoid it than take the risk, as many do it round here.
