People with 8 GB of ram, thoughts please

I'm thinking about upgrading my Mac Mini from 2GB to 8GB. I doubt I'll need it all, but it doesn't cost the earth to do and might come in handy for a couple of things I'll use it with. Like others the temptation is just to max it out because I can, although if I want to keep the slots matched the it's either 2GB, 4GB or 8GB, so I might as well go the whole hog.

had 8gb, now on 4gb, between then was on 2gb. Never noticed a difference tbh. Could eve run bad company 2 on full settings with 2gb ram and only had the slightest micro stutter.

Even using photoshop, 3ds max or zbrush I've yet to run into memory problems.

I think someone of the gains some people think they are getting with 8GB might be a bit of a placebo effect.

SSD on the other hand has speed my system right up.

6GB seems to be the golden amount nowadays, but for the people on dual channel - you just go with 8GB.

that's just what i did, went from 8gb in dual channel with my Q6600 to 6GB in tri channel with my i7.

as i suspected no difference at all unless you could 1-3% ..

only hl2 cinematic mod got a boost but thats a unique package as no other mods i can think of have so many large textures
