performace levels of 125cc bikes

So if i take my cbt now (im 21) i will have to wait until im 23 to take my full test? Or is the two year restriction only below 21?

No no. If you take your CBT now being 21+, you could take your DAS test the next day and pass (on a 500cc machine I mean) and be able to ride whatever bike you like. The DAS route is being put up to 24 possibly next year I think.

While this topic is open, always wondered about this.

Whats the deal with test riding bikes while on a CBT? Are you allowed?

Doubt it tbh but depends on the shop, ive had my full license for 2 years now but because im not 21 or 25 i cant test drive the higher performance bikes, and even the 25 place said even if i was 21 with 3 years on license it would be pushing it on their insurance

To echo what everyone else has said - RS125 > all other 125s. It's 'full size' so you don't look like a noddy riding it - was stopped by a policeman on a bike, having just ridden like a complete loon along the embankment and with a illegal visor on. He ignored all that, just wanted to check that it was actually a 125 as I was on L plates and it looked too big. :D

Had one as my first bike (derestricted 33bhp, should have been 12bhp as this was before direct access came in) and it was fantastic, nothing up to 10k rpm, then whoooosh!

Only trouble was it meant that everyone thought you were racing them off the lights due to the high revs and noise. Best handling bike I've ever owned and beautiful too.

Full power 2t 125's are fast compared to your average car but compared to bigger bikes they're pretty slow. Wifes 636 does 100MPH in 2nd gear... :)

Mito/RS125 are the fastest 125's but come with a cost....reliability, it can be a mind field, you maybe fine or you may end up rebuilding the engine every 2k miles, doesnt always seem to be a pattern. Also for the record, a RS125 isnt a race bike on the road, it's a road bike as much as any other Sports orientated bike.

4t 125's are fast enough to keep up with 90% of road riding, they'll all do 60-80MPH and get there fast enough. They're a better option if you're wanting to learn/commute/upgrade in the not to distant future, if you're planning on riding an illegal 2t 125 around on L plates for the next 2+ years then get a 2t 125.

Besides, legally all 125's should be restricted to 14.6BHP and below when ridden on a CBT.

Get a DT, KMX, or MTX.
And dont waste valuble brain energy thinking of commuting across town on a RS you will:

A: look like a fool.
B: feel like a fool when frustration of limited steering lock, high first gear and on off clutch drive you round the twist.
Combined with the wrist ache, back ache you will get from low speeds on a "Race" bike as there is no wind pressure to get the weight off.
