Performance Increase ? Crucial M4 to Kingston HyperX

does seem abit strange i must admit, tried different sata cable? used the other sata3 port?

Sorry for not replying sooner, I had to go out.
I've just tried a different cable in the second SATA 6 port and got these results.

yeah looks fine, cant see why your write speeds are low though, they should be higher, could try backing up your data, then secure erase the drive and maybe reflash the firmware aand reload your data back onto it

to do that you would need parted magic to secure erase the drive and macrium reflect to clone your ssd/data to a spare hdd if you have one

i cant think whatelse you could do to improve things, its not really bad performance as your read speeds are ok,but write speeds could be a fair bit better imo

OK thanks, I'll try all that tomorrow.
To be honest I haven't read anywhere that mentions the Write speeds should be increased after the firmware update, only the Read speeds.

i.e.

** FIRMWARE UPDATE 0309 - Increased speeds up to 550MB/s **

Could I put the SSD in a caddy, connect it to my Laptop and use Ccleaner to erase the SSD, using the "Drive Wiper" feature ?

ohhh i do apologize,i thought you had the 128gb drive,im blind at times

for a 64gb drive then those look right, the 128gb drive will be faster on the write speeds but that doesnt matter much on ssd's,its read speeds that matter

i wouldnt bother erasing it now, i didnt realise it was 64gb ssd

secure erase wipes the drive without writing any data to it,all other formats leave data behind or something like that, its puts it back to fresh out the factory state

Blimey Charlie that was a near do :D
I appreciate your help, thank you.

I think I'll just get a "better" SSD to cure the slowness.
Maybe a Corsair 128GB Performance Pro SSD or Plextor 128GB M3 Pro.
Or even wait until next month for the new range of Corsair's.

Time for some shut eye now.

Why are SSD's so complicated to set up? I installed a 64gb M4 this week and yes the OS loads faster as do some programs but i know i could have lived with the 7200RPM drive. Now that i got one i cant see what all the fuss is about! lol
