Hi, never had to do this before but are motorway service stations open for petrol all night?

I will need to fill up in the early hours tomorrow!

thanks

I think every motorway services station has to remain open, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by law or covenant.

To my knowledge motorway service regulations state that they must be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and there are only 9 independant stations in the country :)

Edit: It's also law that they must provide food, water, parking and toilets 24/365.

Fill up earlier?

Assume all will be open til 12, then re-open at 6.
Fill up at 12.
Assume 70 mph constant for these 6 hours = 420 miles.
Fill up at 6.

Most cars will do 420 miles on one tank.

What kind of cars are you talking about? Must be Matiz-type things if they are that small?

Even my mum's Clio could do 400 miles+ on a tank.
911 GT3....

I suggest my last 4 cars would struggle to make 320 to a tank if driven in a normal manner and a lot less driven in a spirited manner. Your sweeping generalisation was just that....

I did 310 miles today since I filled up, petrol light is now on again, and I wasn't driving particularly fast...

I think my record is about 90 miles out of a tank (tank is about 45 litres)

To answer the OP's question, yes they'll be open, but the prices will sting, and sting hard...

What an absurd thing to say

Its generalisation gone mad. Drive purely on the motorway, I would expect Merlins 330 to make the 400 mile mark if not more. Round town, it would probably struggle to get 350. This is statement must be dependant on the car surely?
