Some petty bloke along my street uses the garage next door as the person who lives their doesn't use it. Now he doesn't currently keep a car in it.

As soon as I park outside of it, he will come along and post a note through my letter box telling me not to park there. No matter what time of day or night it is he will post these notes.

His latest note is threatening the police for obstruction. There is no dropped kerb outside the garage.

It is not like my car is there 24/7. He even posts notes when I come in from work at 10pm and haven't had a chance to put my car into my garden yet.

He doesn't keep any tools or equipment in the said garage either. He is a 50 odd year old bloke on disablement benefits spending he days curtain twitching.

What laws exactly are being broken here? Bearing in mind there is nothing in the garage.

Your car parked there will slow him down as he runs for his tinfoil hat.

I can't see what his problem is, although you only explain one side of the story, have you ever spoke to him about it?

How does he use the garage if he doesn't park in it and doesn't store anything in it?

If its not a dropped kerb then you can park there. Until he pays to legally have access to the garage I would park there.

We had to pay the council to drop the kerb before we could have our drive

It's not your garage so don't park in front of it.

And if you have a "garden" to keep your car in, then why not just park it there in the first place?

He used to park 2nd or even 3rd car in there. But as I understand now he only has his motability car which he parks in his own garage.

He never knocks on the door and asks for me to move so he can get a car in/out. Just posts notes through the letter box saying not to park there at all times.

If I'm not there, someone visiting someone on the street will be.

Because my garden is not a driveway. E.g someone else can park in front or opposite as it is a back street.

It’s an offence to drive over a footpath. Also you could park in front of the garage as you are not blocking a legal access.

Just asked this to borich_planner (being a planner :)) and he gave me the above response.

which includes the op and 80% of cities that park on pavements.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't intentionally be a rubbish person and hinder others.

I'm just starting the facts. Where I work I can point out of 100's of places where people don't have dropped Kerbs. However the County Council just don't have the resources to enforce unless its deadly!

Just because everyone does it, it doesnt make it ok!

Since when have we been able to commit an offence to not be a rubbish person and hinder others?
