Phanteks PH-TC14PE + Bitfenix Shinobi

Yeah weird. Official specs have it at 170mm with the 150mm fan installed...

I dunno, worth a try I guess. Can always do a dry run with no TIM to see if it works and hope they'll be cool with a possible RMA. I think this has a slightly better chance of getting in over the Phanteks.

Maybe I can cut a bit out of my side panel and stick a section off an egg box on the outside :D Ok, maybe not...

Yeah, 150mm fan. That's what is in middle of Silver Arrow SB-E with a TY-141 on the front. Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme has 2x 143 fans.. 140mm x 150mm. T%Y-150 is 150mm x 160mm.

The problem of your RAM being too high will still be a problem.. both use 140mm front fan.. which is why the Phanteks won't fit with front fan.
 
Could stick the front fan at the back as you suggested earlier I guess.

Just wondering about the total height from CPU socket to panel. I don't think my 1155 is as tall as the 9mm you mentioned elsewhere but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure that it's less than 5mm. I'll have a search.
If it is around 5mm, that should just about work if I can get the fan level with the top of the cooler.

Looking at it on a board, I can't see how it wouldn't fit. It's not like my case is tiny.
Sod it, I'm going for it. All this Uhming and ahhing is getting silly.

Bitfenix, I love your case, but you really could've done with making it just a little bit wider. 10mm would've done.
 
Your case spec is 167mm cpu clearance. So don't see a problem for SA SB-E Extreme.

Those red/orange fans may suck the front of you case in and m make the back bulge a little. :)

If you don't like them color wise I'm looking for 2 more myself. Would pay for replacemetn 2x TY-140 for you and post to me. ;)
 
Lol, we'll see I guess :D In all honesty, I don't need the ridiculous power but I do love the colour.

I just hope that when I do my front mesh mod that A: The double sided tape holds, and B: My dog doesn't get sucked onto it...

Ticks all the boxes with none of the question marks and only lacks the bling and power (& noise) of the 143's... God I'm shallow :D

Looks like it'll clear the ram easily judging from the final pic too.
I had looked at the K2, but for some reason disregarded it. Can't think why.

It's out-pimped by the SA-Extreme, but it'll definitely fit and perform at pretty much the same level...
Could always swap the fans for the 141's I'll be getting anyway.

On reflection, the K2 is the right choice unless I want to get silly and double the price by buying new ram just to fit a cooler that has pretty fans. Then again, I could buy a new case for the price of the Samsung ram...

Let's not go there :)
 
R4 hit the market 2 days after a mate bought a new R3... and he would have loved to have more cpu cooler clearance... plus the 140mm case fans. ;)
 
hey, the SA SB-E Extreme will work. Just change the fans and give me the TY-143s :)

Serious now. The Alpenfohn K2 is a very good cooler.
