Just noticed OC selling these, and seeing as they are basically 6 core Thuban with 2 cores disabled, wondering if anyone has chanced buying one and got lucky.?

Edited: to correct stupidity..:)

You mean a Thuban, not a 6 core Deneb :p, though the end result is the same.
I've heard good things about Zosma, Zzacc had one a while ago.

I'm tempted to get one but it's not in the list of supported cpu's for my board an Asus M4A79XTD EVO but Thubans are. Does anyone know what the chances of it working on my board would be?

ARRGGGHHH!!!!

What to do, what to do....

Running an unlocked 550 with 3 cores, I don't want to spend £100 for just 1 extra core (guaranteed), but my Mobo wont (officially) support the 1090T...but does support the 960T.

Lol...

With all the Console to PC Ports, 3 Cores is a nice performance sweet spot right now (thank you Xbox 360..:D)...and going to 4 cores wont bring much improvement...but going to 6 cores would be worth it.

ARRGGGHHH!!!!

What to do, what to do....

just bought this one for my buddy along with an AsRock Extreme 3 mobo. hoping to unlock to x6 and OC to 4GHz. Will report back with results.

It is supported, bought one the other day and it works well in mine, I've the latest BIOS. Unlike my 555 that wouldn't unlock to even a tri core I bought this one fully aware that I may only get a quad, I was lucky this time though and the extra two unlocked, hex core for £95.

It's hit 4GHz as a quad or 3.2 as a hex, i'm sure it'll go higher but I've yet to try to push it, point is it works on the M4A79XTD EVO...

regards,
J.

I have had 4 now and all have unlocked to 6 cores perfectly. I have clocked two to 4ghz again with ease. Superb CPU for the money in my opinion. Just remember unlocking is not guarantee'd.

If your board supports x6 cpu's it should work, it might show as unknown cpu in the bios but will work perfectly and show as an x6 in windows.

960T is a 'Thuban' processor, so if the other ones work on your board there is a very very very high probability that those will as well. also as far as unlocking goes I hear they are good for it, most of them do unlock though that doesn't for a second mean it will without a doubt, its still going to be an educated risk getting one. might just be a case of unlocking the cores and bumping voltage a bit to compensate for whatever the reason the cores were locking in the first place. :p

had a 970t, although the end result was being scammed out of the chip and a smoking motherboard (due to bad phase powering)
so i got it, unlocked it stably, and went from 3.5gbz, to 4ghz without any voltage change (was set to auto) and the msi board couldn't cope with it and blew, so i sent the chip back to ebay just in case for testing and never saw it again.
and considering i think it could have done over 4.2ghz with the right board and was 20 minutes old and cost £135 i was well peeved, it was truly an amazing chip

got one sitting round here doing nothing (long story). gotta crosshair iv going to be returned tomorrow (crosshair v arriving day after...), debating whether to keep it or return it with the motherboard and stick with my 555. I hear some people struggle to unlock on the new crosshair and it would be a bit of a bummer if my previously unlockable 555 decided to not play ball any more, but on the other hand i could really use with the money...

play around with both chips, surely then youll have a better knowlage of whats better

well i decided to take it back as i needed the money. Couldnt resist popping it in quickly and seeing if it would work. Only tried as far as bios but the extra cores unlocked without a hitch and went straight to 4ghz at 1.45v. whether it was stable or not i guess ill never know...

I was just looking at these.
Is unlocking the extra cores easy? I mean it seems a decent processor even if the extra cores don't unlock so...

Your motherboard needs to support core unlocking. It's then just a case of telling it to unlock extra cores which is usually just an option in the bios and then testing to see if it's stable...

Ok new here, but bought a 960t last month and unlocked straight away to a 6 core, I have run this for a month no probs, but then started looking at overclocking it, blue screens on anything above standard (temps are fine), this lead me to look at the event log, and noticed that a warning is posted every min or so when the other two cores are unlocked. "Processor Core Error Source: Corrected Machine Check Type: Cache Heirarchy Error Proccessor ID 2"

I then switched it back to standard 4 core and tried to overclock it this way but wont go above 3.4ghz without bsod.

Could do with some pointers here as never really been in overclocking scene.

also should I not run as a hex core due to the event log warnings as it suggests to me something is not quite right there ?

Have you tried giving it more power ? Unlock the cores and give it a bit more V-core and see what happens. You are safe up to around 1.55v.

Are you using the stock cooler ? and what M/board are you using ?
