Phenom II x4 3.2 BE volts and temps

looks fairly simple
it comes with its own backplate but ive read on other forums that you can just use the standars AMD am3 socket backplate which will already be on your board which looks like this

i think you still need to access the back of your mobo though :P

if you want a really easy to install air cooler you could get either an A50 or A70 which just goes on the same way a regular amd stock heatsink would
video isnt english but you get the idea :p

cant be orientated so the fan blows to the back of your case though so the fan will be blowing upwards a limitation of the stock amd retention socket

I think I will go for either the Venom or HD50.

I just saw that HD50 install myself and look simple enough.

The Venom I can angle up to blow up to the top fan which will take it out.

With the HD50, I was wondering if the cables are long enough to stick into the spare front fan slot. If not, it seem a shame to lose my 2 main outtake fans.

I have 2 intake in the front and side, and the top and rear outtake atm.

Just need to check my rear side MB case.

This is the under - MB side of my case. I *hope* this is the bracket already there so I can attach the HD50 or Venom straight to it.

Just need to decide on which one.

The HD will take up less room in my 300 case, but the Venom seems more straight forward.

Cheap is good!

I think keeping the existing backplate is best. I can not get the the top of my current one so I would have to remove it all anyway.I usually listen to my PC through headphones so alittle noise wont matter much.

My MB is an Asus M4a79xtd evo. I can move my RAM to the other side of the slot but as far as I can see something like the Frio should fit. I have ordred it along with the remover. Thanks guys.

Well, I will NEVER do that again. Unfortunately I had to removed the MB from the case to the the backplate.

I placed the fan speed on what seemed like medium. These are now my temps on start up:

Hardware monitor ITE IT87
Temperature 0 26°C (78°F) [0x1A] (TMPIN0)
Temperature 1 23°C (73°F) [0x17] (TMPIN1)
Fan 0 2336 RPM [0x121] (FANIN0)
Fan PWM 0 0 pc [0x0] (FANPWM0)
Fan PWM 1 99 pc [0x7F] (FANPWM1)
Fan PWM 2 0 pc [0x0] (FANPWM2)

Hardware monitor AMD ADL
Voltage 0 0.95 Volts [0x3B6] (VIN0)
Temperature 0 29°C (83°F) [0x1C] (TMPIN0)
Hardware monitor Volterra VT1165
Temperature 0 25°C (77°F) [0x19] (GPU)

Core Temps have gone from 40C to 28C.

HOWEVER.. I have come across two problems.

1) My rear fan is no longer working (though I might have plugged this in wrong) - FIXED

2) BIOS reports a CPU fan error. I was unsure if this was due to speed or whether it is a 3Pin plugged into 4PIN ie no info going to MB. - FIXED, turned off CPU silent fan.

When I go back in I will turn the CPU fan down a tad. - Did this but the temp went back up to near 40C so I turned it down again ^^.

Working great so far. HWMonitor even shows my GPU temp down. I think it is helping move the cold ait around more.
