Guys I've been playing a few games lately since upgrading to a nice HD5850 so my CPU has been working hard, like it should.

I want to know if these temperatures are ok, at idle I get around 28c-31c depending on ambient room temperature which is perfectly ok, however on 100% load when gaming etc it does hit a maximum of about 48c and I have seen 51c as the very highest on one occasion.

From thing's I've read these temperatures seem perfectly ok as the maximum operating temperature for this CPU is 65c and mine are WELL below.

Do these seem ok to everyone else, what are yours just for comparison?

yeah as long as under 62 your fine under load

mine is at 3.6 and thats on a stock cooler :D

temps are 36-37 on load idling and around 50 tops after heavy gaming

Cool, thanks for the reply, I have a Freezer 64 Pro sitting in the cupboard originally for my socket 939 but never fitted it to it, don't know if it would fit my AM3 socket but something to look at I guess in the quest to overclock and lower temps even further.

However at the moment my temps seem fine then on stock HSF :D

The main advantge of the 64 pro over the stock AMD is noise and channeling hot air away form the motherboard. With your case I'm not sure you'll see much difference as it moves so much air anyway.

You have to remember that under game play conditions that the GPU on the 5850 is actually doing the lions share of the work. If you monitor your CPU usage it's just ticking over during game play time. Therefore your temps are ok
