Philips to launch BDM4065UC 40" UHD 4k Monitor

Link article but looks good.

Response time might not be great for games but I'm used to an IPS so should be fine.

Probably going to ditch the ACER g-sync and wait for this.

It was a very impressive monitor when I saw it at IFA. It really stood out - and not just because it's massive. ;)

And FYI the Guru3D was based on an article by TFT Central and my own website as the original source. When it comes to monitors I'd advise pointing people to sources like TFT Central and PCMonitors.info which are true experts on the topic rather than generalists who steal other people's work and claim it as their own. Watermarking a Philips press photo as their own is one thing, but they did the same with a photo I took myself of the Samsung S34E790C. Which is quite insulting to be honest.

Hehe sorry about that. I just have an axe to grind with them at the moment. I personally really enjoy their stuff on graphics cards, but not on monitors. ;)

Back on topic... I'm not personally sure how I'd feel about using a 40" screen on a desk as a monitor. At IFA it was actually placed quite high up so you couldn't really get an impression of how overwhelming the size might be. I really liked the overall vibrant look of the image (very light 'semi-glossy' surface helped I feel) and the overall design was nice too. I'll be reviewing this as soon as Philips have samples.

I'm using a 30" monitor at the moment and I often wonder how much of my field of view I am actually using sitting about 3 feet away from it.

So I do have concerns over a larger screen and being able to realisticly use it in a practical veiwing way.

However I like the idea of a UHD monitor but don't want to deal with the text issues that seem to be a real problem on 27" monitors.

I'm not overly fussed about input lag as the WFP3007 I use has enough of that already.

It really looks a superb screen so I am very interested to see what you have to say about it.

Price point is good too.

Hmm I guess your right, looking at it I didn't realise there were a few out now for between 600-800.

I will go and sit in the corner.

I am already drooling imagining what BF4 in 4k would look like on this monitor. I am also keeping a 30 inch dell which is on a swivel arm so any games with any problems i can swivel it in front of the 40 inch !

I also have poor eyes so this would be so much better then on a 28 inch monitor as less scaling would be needed so more programs should run correctly.

The LG 31 inch 4k is a weird resolution for 4k gaming so not interested in that.

Was there colour shift from head on viewing angles if you got close?

You can also just set the resolution lower and use 1:1 pixel mapping, would be about the same size just with black borde
