Philosophy is dead...?

The three creative forces in the universe are the only three things not understood or explained by Physics.

Gravity,
DNA,
The mind,

We are working on the last 2 right now - no 2 may well answer no 3.

And just because a god need not exist does not mean they do not - if they were that clever they might kind of like to let things take care of themselves. But I will need to read the books to see if this is really what is being said. I mean it's like poor old Nietzsche getting slaughtered for saying god is dead when he was actually saying he found god to be dead in the hearts of men which is an entirely other thing.

There doesn't have to be some reason, some greater purpose, things happen because it is the only way they can happen.
But it's not the only way things could have happened is it;) There will also never be an adequate theory of everything either. The more we come to know the more we don't know.

Nothing to add, but Leonard Mlodinow is a fab writer, I read a book of his based on randomness last year and it was ace :)

I don't think Philosophy is dead because, while you guys argue about why we exist and what is the mind, I'm wondering whether a Jaffa Cake is a cake or a biscuit

Isn't it just fashion? Theology and philosophy are out cos of Suicide bombers and Koran burners :O. Philosophers ask the questions and science answers the questions ?

I personally see it as a dead art/science at soon as man moved onto industrial capitalism.

Ahh well that expains exactly how 4 proteins can somehow contain the instructions to build a 3 dimentional living and breathing animal with the infinite complexities of it's organs and brain.

Don't forget those 4 chemicals also create the mind. Dont you find it's odd that the whole brain is all made from the same material yet does so many totally different jobs, where as the other organs of your body are tailored to a physical ability.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I've read in a while on this forum. Or more accurately, ignorant; you could be extremely intelligent but you have absolutely no idea as to how basic biochemistry works.

Also, I find it imperative to post this video. It's long, but I think it's one of the best things I've ever watched on youtube. Quantum mechanics ftmfw.

How can it be so that Philosophy is dead because M theory explains everything ?

There is a lot more to Philosophy than just explaining the Universe and Mans place in it.
