Phone line problems

Hello,

Looking for some advice as I am a bit stumped at the moment!

Basically my uncle's landline works for outbound calls and it also works for inbound calls from mobiles. However inbound calls from landline numbers do not work.

Does anyone have any idea why only inbound calls from landlines would get 'number not recognised'?

Thanks!

Sounds like a routing problem. Need to call his line rental company and get them to investigate. Has he just changed provider?

He changed something like two months ago which I guess is still fairly recent. He has been in touch with them and have said that they will send a BT engineer to the house. If it's internal issues then he will have to pay if outside then not.

Surely it can't be anything to do with the road or inside the home? Just because it's been working and certain inbound calls work etc?

Thanks :)

An issue like that is unlikely to be caused by anything internal. Just to be sure get him to try the test socket, ideally with another known working phone but I wouldn't worry.

As far as I can work out it's only local landline numbers that cannot ring in. There has been an international number and also a different area code which have been able to ring.

This has to be a routing problem in the exchange right?

It's definitely nothing to do with anything inside your house, so there is zero chance of you being billed for it.
