My MDA Vario 2 was stolen from me yesterday, it's been blacklisted, the sim blocked and a replacement SIM is on its way. The phone isn't covered under the home insurance and no phone insurance was taken out. I was just going to use an old phone till my contract was up but after speaking to T-Mobile they'd be prepared to give me an early upgrade if I agreed to a further 12 months which I don't mind. Now I'm looking at my options for a replacement, I'm NOT going to get another Vario 2 as I refuse to pay for it again. Another viable alternatives? It must be equal or better than the Vario 2. I was thinking of getting the N95 but I'm not used to the Symbian OS and the lack of touch screen puts me off also.

P.S sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes, I'm still upset and EXTREMELY annoyed about what's happened :(. I loved my Vario 2, by far the best phone I've had.

I hope the scum that stole this won't be able to use it at all?

They shouldn't do, the phones barred so shouldn't get a signal, SIM is blocked and the battery was really low and they didn't have the charger. Also my phone needed a password to be unlocked and when it was turned on. They've pratically stolen a brick but it doesn't make me any less upset and annoyed  .
Looking at the phones available there are no other phones that really meet my requirements, The N95 is even more expensive than the Vario 2 :(. I might just wait a bit and see what new HTC models come out.

UPDATE :D

I just had a phone call this morning from a lady who has found my Vario 2! She was walking her dog when it started sniffing at my phone which was under a bush. She managed to get my phone on and get my name and number from the unlock screen :D .

still barred though, dont think they can be unbarred!

you now have a brick!

All you need to do is call the network, and they can unblacklist the handset.

Just hope the Meatball's phone aint all scratched or damaged!

@ Meatball: Call your home insurance company and see if they are able to add your phone for a small amount per month onto the existing home insurance.

The person who blacklisted the phone can remove the blacklist if they supply the correct details (account passwords etc)

I know, can't wait :D. I keep hearing a September release date, any truth in this? Any guesses on the price? I would suspect £200-250 on my contract (U-Fix Txt £25 + WnW £7.50)

Well its not going to be long at all to be honest in work they have sent out email to advise ppl that all mda ( windows devices ) will have Windows Mobile 6.

I would probably say that its going to be around then m8 , as for the price i cant say .
