Photographing Children

Which is why I said you should get it in writing as to who is responsible, I didn't say the OP was responsible.

Photographing children is akin to being an axe murderer as far as some parents are concerned. It would be a very silly thing to do to not make sure that the basics are in place first, especially when protecting yourself from any silly claims.
 
im sure you have your answer now but just to add to this thread. I work in a college and do a lot of dance and theatrical photography for our theatre.

I only photograph the colleges students but the photos i take are put onto my website. The students all sign clearance forms when they arrive, this clearance form as a section in it regarding the display of photos on the WWW.

I am also CRB cleared as i work in a college but its always good to have a belt and brances approach as you technically do not know whether the students / children you are photographing have home problems or any kind of issues that would cause problems if photos are seen of them on the internet.

Suggest you get a simple written statement from the club that they will take responsibility for the photos being taken and handle any objections/complications relating.

They could then simply put a sign on the door just to inform all those attending that photos will be taken at the event and possibily used for advertising purposes and if anyone has any issue with that they contact a member of club management.

I'm considering getting CRB checked as i want to shoot babies / toddlers etc

BUT I don't have my own business would this matter?
 
you dont need a CRB as youre not going to be left alone with children/elderly/"at risk" persons.

but to actually answer your question, i beleive you can now get yourself checked. from what ive heard from others they will reject the form if your occupation is "photographer" as its not on the list of requred professions.
 
Well i just want it for piece of mind for new clients as ill be offering free photos etc just want to build a decent reputation and to be crb to say i'm not an oddball

hmm ill give em a ring Monday....
