Physical reaction when playing 'creepy' games?

Doom in a dark room with midi music turned up. Nothing more scary and what about Alone in the dark, those polygons the horror!

This.

When I first played Doom 3..........would jump out of my chair every 5 minutes.:o

Eventually I would only play the game when the wife was home. :o:o:o:o

I was fine with Doom and indeed pretty much any game I played up until 2005 (Painkiller, FEAR). Even so-called scary games like Thief and System Shock 2 didn't phase me.

"Physical reaction when playing 'creepy' games?"

But it's not fear? Sure.....

That's the thing, it is purely a physical reaction, I don't feel mentally afraid (as I have done from other things in the past). I don't feel like "I don't want to open this door, it is too scary, I need to stop playing now", although it is a bit of a weird sensation that I coud do without.

I experience very brief, short-lived 'fear' in games that deploy cheap shock tactics sometimes, you know, like you turn round to descend a ladder and Alma is there, or some sceaming thing appears out of nowhere in the centre of the screen, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking a kind of strange cold sweat with hairs standing up, tingles down the spine even in games that aren't really scary just creepy, but mentally still fully focussed on the gameplay.

Exactly the same. Infact that must be where my hatred of water in games comes from now you mention it!

In any game I dread water levels/areas. Half Life and Black Mesa gave me the fear when I had to go in water even though there was most likely nothing in the water to hurt me.

Underwater sections in most games are what get to me as well.

It's just that underlying fear of not nothing what is lurking in the deep.

Any one remember the Ecco the Dolphin games, especially Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future for the Dreamcast and later PS2?

One hell of a long and damn hard game, yet also pretty terrifying with some of the stages and the creatures beneath the deep dark sea.

The original Dead Space was awesome at scaring me :D

I can't even open Amnesia. I played it for about 20 mins before I actually was just too scared to go on :p

No other games though :(
