Picked up a new Boxster (981) and an SVT Raptor

Having not seen the new boxster before, gotta say it looks great and sounds like as always you got a great deal! Not sure on the looks of the raptor but as you need to cart stuff around perfect for the job and monster engine to go with the whole package. Bet the car salesmen love you, one of the few people they can get a sales commission from every few months :)

The thing is with Boxster / Cayman, they are easy to drive fast, very fast, the chassis inspires huge amounts of confidence.

The 911 to the in-experienced driver feels a bit more like it wants to eat you and spit you out, it takes a lot more time to feel at one in a 911.

I agree with this 100%, I found it much easier to drive the boxter fast then my 911. To be honest the boxter is probably more fun day to day then the 911.

It just does not feel as special inside and does not giving you the same feeling as having a 911.

I would really consider a boxter at some point in time.

Edit: ICE - how is the medical thing going? Doing your Residency now?

I felt the same way with the previous ones. The new one is just as special as the 911, in fact compared with the 991, it's arguably more so.

Really, I will take the next time I am in the dealer, maybe when they hit sub 30k here I would even consider one.

Yeah I feel a go in the new Boxster could be on the cards. Drove the old Boxster, was a lot of fun without going at warp factor 10!

The Cayman R I had for a while was great but it just did not feel special like the 911.

Seems this new Boxster could be the best mix of them all. :)

Both of my local dealers have 991's sitting on the lot, loads of them as they're just not selling well after the initial rush. Most of the customers that bought the new Boxster this weekend were current 997/991 owners and the general consensus is that the Boxster is now the more fun, arguably better car - Porsche finally took the reins off the Boxster, they've realized they can't prevent the 911 from having competition anymore and as such have built what I can honestly say, this side of the Carrera GT and GT3, is probably the best car they've ever made.

Pretty much what Chris harris has said.

For anybody wondering why Iceman bought a boxster. Have a watch of this:

Keep in mind that this car was for my wife anyway as her daily driver but quite honestly I don't see why you'd feel anything but good driving it. I certainly don't feel it's a chick car any more, much as Chris Harris states.

Hows the electronic steering?

It is a little more numb but it's very direct and smooth without feeling totally out of touch. For the kind of driving we'll be doing in it, I doubt it'll even be a concern.

I married an American citizen, as soon as you're married you're eligible to work once your green card paperwork is filed (it's more complex than that but I'm just being simplistic). My wife also runs one of the largest aviation training facilities in the US and deals with visas all day long.

I don't work as a pilot though anymore, only flew for a little while before starting my training as a doctor. I make my money from business, consulting and investing.
