Bit of a thread revival here, what ever became of the Audi? Does the beast live on? :D

Reason I ask was I watched a video on Facebook yesterday of someone in a Porsche attempting to race an rs6 without realising what an animal it was. The Audi made a fool out of it. Reminded me of this thread :)

I like you, you're funny guys, I KILL YOU LAST!!!

Still here :D

After eventually saving up enough to start the repairs (more than expected, needed a replacement block at £6k+) we finally made a start last month. As well as the engine repair I'm replacing the suspension and curing a bunch of little niggles at the same time which has added more cost/time too so I'm expecting it back for Xmas, just in time for my contract at work to be cancelled and having to find a new job so 2 Christmases in a row I've been bummed without lube - YAY!!!! :D

Dis86 - It was 920ps not hp, so around 905hp. It'll be getting a map tweak after the engine work to take advantage of the new pistons/rings etc and the better vacuum they can pull for more power.

The Engine is out and the parts are being swapped over as we speak. No damage to the piston crown on any of them (no det) but the bore of cylinder 1 is scored along with a few scuffs on Piston 1's rings. Looks like extra heat vs extremely slim piston ring tolerance caused it to swell slightly and catch the bore (more common than I realised according to Porsche/VAG specialist) so looking at a tweak to the Water/Meth to manage internal temps better (may lose a few HP but nothing drastic), plus a test to make sure the WMI is actually working as it should. As mine isn't the only 900+ RS6 running around but it's the first to pop due to suspected heat we're "fairly" sure it's not a generic problem to the C6 or engine but more likely something about my specific setup (100k+ miles with different IC's, oil & injectors etc) which make narrowing the failure down a bit more tricky.

Here's a few pics from Unit20's FB page -

Fresh R8 V10 block for comparison. Just about to be built from scratch to big BHP I believe.

And one out to be worked on.

Those blocks in Gallardos easily hit 1500hp on twin snail configs. Some are running 2500hp. It's just a matter of money.

When the Lambo V10 block gets stripped they swap the OEM liners to steel cylinder liners for the big power, which are much more suitable than the ridiculous "unobtainium" liners factory fitted fitted to my Lambo V10 block :D
