Barcelona is beautiful - stunningly so. Many parts remind me of Athens, esp. Gracia and Sarria in the West, L'Eixample is ok too.

I found La Rambla horrible - rubbish food, totally overpriced (paid 10€ for a 2L glass of coke  ), very crowded, and I don't get the point of kiosks selling live poultry

El Raval and La Barcelonetta are amazing for going out, as is Maremagnum in the port area.

The view from the top of Sagrada Familia is amazing - the 2hr wait to get to the stairs, and the 2 hr climbing of the stairs is not. At least I got a tan from the waiting.

Montjuic - amazing view, unfortunately didn't get the chance to go to the Poble Espanyol. The museum is ok, not really worth it if you don't like the Medieval period though.

What can I say, I had an AMAZING time, love it so much that I am seriously thinking of moving there. Not sure how to cope with Catalan, will probably learn Castillian properly first (my friend and I got along just fine with it) and then have a bash at Catalan once I moved down.

I highly recommend it, the beaches look fantastic too btw and, more importantly, you don't have any members of the retard brigade there, they all prefer Mallorca and Ibiza :p MANY French, Italian and American tourists btw, which is pleasing to the eye! ;)

Some nice Pics in there mate . How come none of the tourists which where pleasing to the eye ;)

they still havent finished that cathedral, it was like that when I went there 4 years ago :/

They have been building it for 120 years and reckon they won't finish until 2020. :p Its because apparently every single stone slab used in the construction must be custom cut due to the weird angles.

Because on my stupid Sony Ericsson I just can't turn off the sound it makes when u take a pic, and its loud too :(

*note to self - take camera next time!*

Going back in a month with work, can't wait :D

That catherdral is not due to finish for like another 50 years, it started 2 centuries ago ! there is no hurry, and it is funded by the public i believe.

I love barcelona too, and i remember the last day there i thought to myself that i could find myself getting a flat there just for breaks since its only 90mins flight away.

One of my art teachers got pick pocketed in Barcelona on a visit, not with school.

They threw a bucket of water over him, then brought out towels to dry him and removed his belongings while doing so.

Naturally it all happened so fast he didnt know till a few minutes after...

One to look out for!.. the trick.. not my teacher.

Also the fact that Gaudi died while it was still being designed didn't help. (I presume you mean Sagrada Familia *shrugs*) You can/could go up the towers and walk across a very small bridge between two of them.

And Rambla's is a hangout for pickpockets. Bit like Rome.

spain was great when i went. we stayed in a nice quiet area within 2 mins of shops and a beach. i enjoyed it more then when we went on a visit to barcelona. as you said expensive food, overcrowded. i didnt feel safe and i spotted a guy following us trying to obviously get to the rucksack on my back. luckily we saw before he got to me and also we put a small padlock on it.

Would agree it's a lovely place been working over there for the last five weeks back home tonight. Cost of living is so much cheaper, but there again it's matched by their salaries in general being less than ours. Apartment prices are expensive though in the City Centre that is.

It must have been busy - I was there earlier in April and waited about 10 minutes to get to the stairs, and it took maybe 50 minutes to get to the top. Like you say, good views and interesting bunches of grapes!

Come on mate, did you really somehow expect that a cathedral that's been being built for more than 100 years would suddenly be finished in four? Even if there wasn't much information (in English) readily available at the time, it doesn't take much thought.

Barcelona is a great place... the Sagrada Familia is dependant entirely on public donation so it is going to take a while.

I went for six days and want to go again - there is so much to see and do. Great food, good atmosphere and friendly people. Stayed in a hostel apparantly populated entirely by American students (!!??) walking round in towels. It was truely amazing.

I loved it...
