[PICS] My new car! (Honda Civic 1.5i LS)

Wtf. I just said i'll upload my policy, what more do you want me to let on?

Even if you do upload your policy, and it is 100% valid, perhaps you could care to ENLIGHTEN the OP who may well struggle how you went about it because trust me son - What you may of insured, for that price, at your age is most certainly not the norm.

99% of insurers would laugh you out the door.

Perhaps 1%, as part of an owners club scheme, in a drastic marketing stunt insured you so they could put a fancy advertisement up sucking people in to an amazingly great deal that at the end of it, they don't actually get. Who knows.

Indeed, look at my post of my quotes :p i know most dont do online for mods, but a few say unable to age and class of use. Admiral will insure with all the other details i have in there bar the mods, so i am guessing the mods dont do it for them

I did not realise civics live in a little world of their own, exempt from the law that is YOUNG, RECENTLY PASSED, LOW NCB and an A4 PAGE OF MODS = GTFO.

Not a single online insurer will give you an accurate price for a modified car. None.

Just as a side note- Admiral don't cover mods like for like. In fact, they don't cover them at all.

This thread is starting to get a little out of hand. Calm it down everyone please.

aproctor, I would highly suggest you stop with the personal insults or you will be suspended.

With regards to insurance, when i was 18 and had every mod you could possibly imagine on my car and it was the coupe with larger engine and insurance group i was only paying £800 a year fully comp. So this one shouldn't be a problem.

wooo who you we? im 20 (19 at the time) and cheapest insurance for my 1.4 EJ9 civic was £2,400 that was after checking every compare site and most individual sites

also had to put my car back to stcok suspension to make insurance valid :(

come renewal time with 1 years ncb and driving experience its still 1600

also know a lot of people with civics who have the same problem, ill let them know to once you tell me :)

cheers

I think it was more to do with the claims the Qeffects was making though, which in context could be more than 100's it was taking off.

I know my dad makes it cheaper, but my mum doesnt as she had an accident in the past 5 years........whilst driving my car.......and it still hasnt been repaired :(

Adding my parents to my policy still shaves £100's off the price for me?

Mine never fluctuates with adding parents really.

I find it somewhat hard to believe adding your dad, at 18, on a Civic modified like that removed 100s to the point of it costing in the region of £800.

Perhaps it's just where I live that adding another driver does not do much, not that it should make a difference but I've heard of stranger things as a result of being an islander in jersey :o

I live in a post code where most brokers refuse to insure me the second I mention BB. Doesn't matter if I was 24 or 55 and that is from a phone quote, not online.

With my EP3 at this post code I'm paying £1000 for myself alone with Churchill, just a back box that doesn't change anythng. My other half adds £300 with two accidents (1 fault) within 6 months. Bell etc come in at £1500 for us both, £1800+ for myself alone.

For a 24 year old whos been driving since I was 18 and bike since 17 that's pretty steep but not uncommon. To have such a good quote in any area at that age is quite an achievement. Either it's true that insurers pull quotes out their rear end dpeending on the weather or wind direction or there's something untoward. I can however beleive you but at 22 with a 1.4 206 I could never get a quote below £1400.

It may be petty, but we as enthusiasts are stuck paying high premiums thanks to people fronting and other aparent 'loopholes'. It's like a red rag to a bull here :)

well im insured to drive my (....mums) cough.. fiesta as named driver and the policy, in my second year of driving and with mums 7year ncb is like 1000 on my MUMS fiesta 1.25 zetec first year was 1500 i think, nice area too etc

We insured my sister at 18 after just passing her test with admiral for £450. Used Admiral Multicar.

Mum re-insured her car at an extortionate £300 (£200 elsewhere) and my sister got her car insured for £450 (£750 elsewhere) making a net saving of £200.

There are random deals to be had for random cars though, I paid £350 at 21 with 2NCB to insure a Jaguar XJ with all my uni housemates as named drivers. Nowadays though my newer XJ costs me £400 at 24 with 5 NCB. You do get some randomly good deals, the RAC used to be great for that until they changed their supplier, you could just crank up the named drivers and if older they'd generate a saving even if they were named driver number 5!
