Used to be a traditional with the wife before we had kids that we took it in turns to make a pie every other Tuesday night.

Going to restart the tradition so looking for some pie ideas to get the creative juices flowing again.

Wife is fussy aren't they all so will only eat chicken or Beef. NO MUSHROOMS that is one of the few things we agree on lol

Look forward to your suggestions. Will try and remember to post the results.

Damn, thought this would be a really interesting thread until the fussiness limitations :(

We made pasties, but would work as pies, of venison and pheasant, as we had built up a stockpile of both in the freezer. Slow cooked in a red wine/gravy sauce with carrots, onion etc, they were delicious.

We often guy mixed game from Ocado which has venison, phesant and partridge in. We then stew that for a couple of hours, bung it in a pie dish and cover with home made puff pastry. Delicious.

We don't go for the full pie crust as I get awful heartburn if I eat too much pasty so it'd end up going to waste.

The last pie we had was slow cooked beef shin (add a star anise when cooking - the flavour is utterly amazing) in suet crust. Yum.

With beef, branch out with your cuts. Do them on the bone and you could stick the bone out of the crust for amusement.
Rib of beef, beef shin, etc.

For both you can consider any 'stewy' like dish. So chicken/beef curry pies. Chili con carne pie...
