A sensible answer to this is to wash them then tumble dry them with a couple of tennis balls in the drier

This all depends on what sort of pillows you have are they foam fill, feather fill or memory foam. I'd also say you need to be investing in decent pillows if you want them to last cheapo's from asda are cheap for a reason!
