Pink Cat

"It is clearly not toxic but still unpleasant."

What? Unpleasant for who? The Cat?

They don't have street cred to worry about, my god what a STUPID report.

BBC, this is not news.

Agree 100%.

What a bunch of rubbish, yeah unpleasant, I doubt the cat cares...

Does does a cat open a bottle of dye without opposable thumbs? Unless this cat has mastered the power of telekinesis I'd wager that it had some help and I'm not talking about another cat.

Edit - oh, I see what you mean. I'd have the ask the cat.

So what that is has been done for the fun of someone, people prank each other all the time.

I guess you'd complain about vids like this too :

Well it could have fallen into some dye, however I wouldn't call standing there nonchalantly while someone dyes it's fur, "forced".

Sounds much more likely that a treasured family pet has gone run-about and the "OMGWTFBBQ" brigade has gone doolally over it.

I agree. I can imagine some family meal tonight went like this:
Daughter: "Tiddles has went missing"
Mother: "Yes, we know where she is - at an RSPCA shelter. But if we go and claim her we'll be vilified and crucified in the national media, get hate mail, death threats and prosecuted by the RSPCA. Lets get a dog instead, it's ok to dye them"

;):D

I just watched this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235189/

This is a screeny from it, and that looks like the same cat to me.

What are the chances that I watch a film with a pink cat in it and then I read this thread literally 2 mins later?

As I said earlier, it seems a fuss over nothing. There was bare mention of the 'throwing over a wall' incident, so I'm wondering what actually happened there. Cats can jump, etc. I can't see anyone going to the trouble of buying a pedigree cat, looking after it (no fleas, worm burden or emaciation as far as the article alludes, and the photos show a healthy cat) just to dye it pink and throw it over a wall.

Sounds much more likely that a treasured family pet has gone run-about and the "OMGWTFBBQ" brigade has gone doolally over it. It's far more cruel to feed dried and wet commercial foods to a cat or dog than it is to bath the bugger. The dye has been confirmed as harmless, and we don't know the circumstances, so what's the fuss?

My friend was in the garden when it happened... He saw it get thrown over the wall :p He said this to me yesterday, and at this point nobody knew that the cat was going to end up on the news. It was the RSPCA who have sold the story - they were told what happened when they came to collect the cat the morning after it appeared. He wouldn't lie to the guy collecting the animal for caring now, would he?

Does anyone know if he can claim ownership of the animal, as he is the one who handed it in? (Provided the original owner doesn't step forward to claim it back)

The chance of this thing appearing on the night I wasn't round his house with the lot! :(

Cool story bro, etc. :D Seriously though, whether it was abandoned (or perhaps more likely nicked and dumped by a few chavs), dying it pink was hardly cruel. Depending on motives (owner v prank) either just 'meh' or 'duh'. Not something the arsepca need to be tying their knickers over. But as you said, they do love a bit of publicity. Keeps the bequests coming in and all that.

Oh I agree, the cat was fine and apparently rather friendly :p It even stayed despite the dog (albeit the friendliest dog I've ever encountered).
