So first EVER mobile accident an hour or so ago, my faithful Xiaomi Mi A2 went plop into a pot of water for a split second. Powered it off, gave it a couple of hours, speakers not working properly and screen flashing so I'm giving it another dry but have little hope of it being back any time soon.

Loved android one but the Pixel 3a's weren't around when I bought my A2, so i'm contemplating one of those even though I know the 4a will no doubt be pending.

I'm a fan of the unlock on the A2 and have heard bad things about the A3 but am not sure whether to take it with a pinch of salt.

Battery life and camera are the two most important things to me realistically, not a mobile gamer but am a heavy user as far as apps and office related stuff goes.

Any other options in the £200-300 bracket?

You could try packing your phone in silica gel for a day or two and see if that works?

If you have a cat you might already have some as it's often used in cat litter.

A lot of people swear by uncooked rice, but honestly silica gel works better.

Seems like worth a shot before putting down £200-300 on a new phone.

If you DO go for a new phone anyway, I've heard good things about the Xiaomi Note 9S, seems to fit your needs and comes in at around £240 for the version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage:

£240 !!!! I've just paid £140 for 1...... although there may be customs charges on top when it arrives.
Sounds like a great phone for the money if you don't mind Xiaomi tracking your every move

Guessing you bought direct from China?

Yeah, I'm guessing you'll have some stuff to pay ontop when it arrives, and is it the 4GB RAM version or the 6?

Seems like a great phone for the cash either way.

I'm tied with whats available on one of the big blue online stores (not sure if I can reference them here) as they'll do next day 7 days a week! I need something for Monday sadly :(

The Oppo phones look interesting!

As long as you're not linking to stuff OCUK sells it's fine, so phones shouldn't be a problem.

The only thing I'll add is that in the MIUI phones I've seen that Data Saver isn't an option, whereas on stock Google or Google One phones it is.

Not an issue if you have a good data plan, but if you're on limited data or PAYG it's worth considering.

Good shout that, on about 8gb a month data from what I recall, seldom go near it tbh other than when on visits to the US.

So much choice now it's nuts. I was sold on just the A3 but it seems like a bit of a downgrade which isn't ideal.

Touch wood my A2 seems to have bounced back to life this morning but I've got the bug for an upgrade now anyway
