Planning a new build

ha i didnt say i won the lottery, id probably buy a car instead

thanks a few questions:

why a 670 not a 680? and are they better than ati at the moment?

why that ssd specifically?

2 different sets of ram ?

i guess the rest is all down to personal preference? as they arent performance affecting options

Ignore the RAM (Kingston), its a left over from a previous basket.

The GXT670 is a fast card (that one also has 4GB Vram)

That SSD has very fast speeds and a 5 year warranty (you wont find that much)

so thats the fastest ssd for the money? thats very important for me for games loading times are really annoying.

is nvidia the way to go at the moment then? i had nvidia for my first 3 pcs but then went ati 5850 and its been pretty good upto now

ah right i play WoW, Diablo 3, a very small amount of BF3 and not much else

So. thats the CPU and Graphics card and SSD pretty much sorted then. for the Mobo i see that RoG Asus are releasing one soon, i might wait for that instead. also with ram is it not worth getting more expensive ram like dominator? (and getting 16gb as its pretty cheap)

Tomshardware have a Diablo 3 GFX card test, even cheaper cards play it well at highest details.

yea blizzard games arent very demanding.

Whats the over clocking potential of the build you picked out then? Im unfamiliar with over clocking IB last i did was my i7 920

It seems all good but id probably double the ram and perhaps change the mobo, im unsure as i dont know much about that one (and its not in stock as is the graphics card!)

These Z77 boards (and the Ivybridge memory controller) are getting some very high RAM speeds indeed, aim for 2000Mhz+

You also want a suitable OS for all the RAM.

Any RAM that matches the colour scheme you are doing really.

64bit Home premium has a 16GB memory limit (including GFX RAM)

Win7 Professional has a 192GB limit.

so the ram speeds dont matter even for overclocking? there must be a best ram...

Ill go 16gb then i assume thats all most people will ever need?

you can overclock the CPU separately from the RAM, but do both:D

So RAM with a high 2000+Mhz rating.

If you go for 16GB of RAM+4GB Vram card and only have Home premium then you wont get the full RAM amount.

hey guys

done some changes and got to this build. It assumes i will carry across the CPU block from my old pc (will this still work with the new socket?) and the pump, I will downsize from my triple to a double rad to fit inside this case.

MoBo not listed as I will wait for the new Rog Xtreme board in new few weeks hopefully

also i am unsure on the graphics card choice, is there a better one for similar money (i can increase send a bit) i normally use Ati
