I've moved into a new room and it's a lot brighter than the last. I have heard that keeping plants is a good idea to help with the air quality.

I was just wondering whether people kept plants in their bedrooms - and if so what ones? I want something more than a cactus, but I don't want one which is too high maintenance.

fly traps need rain water only!!

peace lillies are good for air quality, dont like direct sun.
spider plant? i think its called but needs trimming and the succulent money tree too

Bamboo and cactus are indeed easy to maintain but hardly grow enough to look nice. I still like the latter though and going to pick one soon.

/edit - a bonsai??

Bonsai are very fussy and need loads of looking after...
Bamboo you can get any size and if you use feed they grow fast as well....also they dont die if you dont water them or over water them - i got Bamboo's indoors and outside :)

have you thought about a window box?

I have no window ledge for one, and tbh I can see myself knocking it off when I'm drunk.

Do these plants really help? I would have thought the more leaves the better?

Hmm, again I think I would want something a bit leafy as I think that they're better?

Aren't bonsai really expensive I'm just a poor student :(

There are different types of bamboo... some of mine have millions of leaves and you can hardly see the bamboo shoots themselves - unless you trim them to show. I'll see if i can get a pic for you to see what i mean..

I like Bonsai, but they are expensive and unless you know what your doing or willing to put the time into them, it'll more than likely die.

either a Peace lilly as their hard to kill

or a Spider Plant as they grow like mad and you can get about 100 plants within a year of owning just one.

This one is of one of my Bamboo... zwillions of leaves...

And this is one of my other plants... no idea what it is, but have had it about two years and it is also easy to look after and looks good (i think) :)
