Play music stored on PC, through Sonos speaker, control via iPhone. Possible?

Is it possible to play music which is stored on my PC, through a Sonos speaker but control it all via my iPhone?

This seems like it should be straight forward, but I can't figure it out...

Dont you just add the music to your controller app in windows and then you can access it through the sonos app in the music sources section? Thats what I believed would happen.

Yeah you just have to tell Sonos where the music is. I've only used with Macs personally but you just have to link the Sonos app with wherever/whatever app your music lives in.

I do the same with Squeezeplay so I'd assume it should be possible with Sonos!

Just share your music folder in the Sonos program and update the media library.
You'll then be able to control it with the app on your phone

Create a Windows network shared folder.

Didn't even realise there was a Windows controller! They kept that quiet, and well hidden on the website. All working well!

Didn't know that you had to have a Spotify premium account to play Spotify through the speaker, bit rubbish.

Where is the Sonos database kept, is each sonos device a self contained device, unlike squeezebox where you need host slimserver & database?

No your pc, or device where library is needs to be on to play.
