Playing on Xbox live with Silver Membership

I have found that I can still play games online even though my membership is silver, has anyone else found this?

(I also only discovered this after ordering a gold membership card, D'oh!)

This may be one of the times when they allow Silver members to act as Gold members. I think it's generally when MS are doing a show of some kind (which I think they are at the moment).

They have upgraded all silver accounts for TGS and X06 (20th till 29th are the dates i think)
