I've worn glasses for about 2 years now, I'm long sighted, its not that bad, I can drive and watch TV, just courses things to look a bit blurry, which is annoying.

Anyway, I play a lot of football, and this doesn't affect me much, but whilst playing badminton, I struggle. The shuttlecock is a lot harder to see, I've tried yellow shuttlecocks and it improved things, I tried contact lenses a year ago and couldn't get used to them, I guess what I'm saying is it possible to get Edgar Davids styled glasses to wear whilst playing sport? I know he has them for an eye disease, but is it possible?

How do others cope who wear glasses with playing sport?

I also really struggle with glasses - when you tried contacts, did you try the daily disposable soft lenses, which are much easier to wear than gas permeable (G.P.) ones?

I did have the ones you changed daily (but re-used them) are these different?

You can get daily disposable contacts (wear them once & throw them away) there easier on your eyes, or, as I had as a kid you can buy glasses that are made for sports that are plastic with a band to go around the back of your head to hold them on, if you can handle looking like a tool that is.

I had daily contact lenses and found that they were fine but they didn't last long. switched to ones which you swap every fortnight. they're fine. get the acuvue ones there better than daily ones and think there cheaper too.

How long do they last for? I'm not playing football for a while, and I play badminton once or twice a week. Do they last for a while if i ordered a pack in?

well they're aimed at people who will wear them for 14 days but i'm sure if you wore them say 3 times a week then they'd last 4-5 weeks per pair. all that happens is over time the protein in your eye breaks down the lens. i'm not the best person to give advice talk to your optician. but you can buy online see below

I'd definitely stay with the contact lenses designed for daily use. The two weekly ones do need to be cleaned and *I think * (tho' you'd need to ask the optician) that they suffer from a protein build up on them over time, so I don't think it works to just use the for a day or two at a time. Also, bear in mind the cleaning solution etc becomes quite awkward to manage - much easier to just get daily disposables.

Bear in mind that for pricing, you're better off getting the eyes checked at an optician AND asking for a written copy of your prescription. You can then order the lenses directly over the net, but you need the written copy of the prescription before anyone will send them to you.

If you are only going to wear them infrequently then daily disposables are the way to go. If you want to wear them more often, then speak to your optician. Mine switched me from normal monthlies (which i felt were fine) to O2 optix lenses that let 4x more oxygen through and these are almost as good as dailies in my experience. I regularly sleep in mine (not overnight mind) with no probs at all.

yes you can get sports spectacles. Nike do one and of course there are other manufacturers. prices will vary according to brand. the lenses used are polycarbonate (tougher) and some also give you the option of changing lenses to include those with sports tints etc.

I have personally looked at some from "the Rudy Project" as this company does a vast array of styles. Mostly I found they do bigger eye sizes so are generally a no go for people with smaller faces (unless you select from their womens range). Also the prices are pretty hefty for them.

yeah you're meant to clean them every week. very easy to do but you gotta be careful when handling them.
