I put this in here becuase it's about money not the console... anyway,

I am wondering If this is going to be a sold out before Christmas time. Due to release 11/11/2006

Would it be worth buying a few and re selling 2-3 weeks before Christmas when every where is sold out ?

your thoughts?

it probably would be an extremely shrewd investment.

Whats the UK RRP anyway? 400 quid?

Think it's £425 for the basic 20GB version with no games.
£550 for the 60GB with 3 games.

I can't see the console getting sold out with these prices.

Don't underestimate the foolishness of certain sectors of the console-buying public ;) If there is even an outside chance that it's better than the 360 and has a knockout game or two at launch then it'll sell.

I think it's fairly obvious that MS will drop the price of the Xbox360 before PS3 launch.

My guess is something in the region of £219 for the Premium, although if they could break the £200 barrier and sell for £199 then that'll be a huge hit on the PS3, especially as by November they'll have plenty of Xbox 360s ready for Christmas, along with a fairly large list of essential games.

I'm tempted to pick up a 360 if they drop the price. Barely play on the PS2 anymore as it's past it's best now :/

Yeah I shunned it at first, as I normally do with consols for some reason bar the PS2... but now I've had a few shots on them now they're actually quite good! There a racing game I can't think the name of thats quite alright, its no GT4 but its alright :)

whats your point ? microsoft have been losing money on xboxs and xbox 360 since they came out, both companys make theyre money from software sales

and the 60gb version is about 425 at most places for pre order. dont have a lcue about the 20gb.

i know that, all consoles make a loss, whats worrying for sony is the degree of loss, i mean they cant get into a price battle if with their losses so high. And kids are fickle consumers, lets face it the mass market both here and in the states wont buy a £550 console, not when an equivalent console is available for around the expected £199 mark.

Fans and idiots will buy, most people are neither

I'm probably going to buy one, though I'm neither of those.

If you check the terms and conditions of those pre-orders you'll find that the price is subject to change at the retailers will.
However regardless of how the price changes you are not committed to buying it from them, they are committed to having a unit for you to buy though.

So in essence the price is far from fixed and could change upon release. The cynic in me thinks that prices are being touted around simply to gauge reaction, a form of market research if you will.

Some places have also suggested that they will be requiring large cash deposits for pre-orders to stop the ebay monkeys.

I still feel that there is potential to make a good profit on one on ebay on release day, if places stop taking pre-orders then that will be an excellent indication.
