I want it to succeed and I am not hating on it, but I also think you will stand a very good chance being able to go in to a store on Thursday and find it in stock.
Sony has so far done a poor job of marketing the Pro, terrible live stream announcement and zero TV advertisement build up.

Dunno, like all new hardware releases initial stock levels are low.
Sagacious marketing trick so they can say sold out everywhere giving the perception of massive sales

Best check reviews to be honest. It varies game to game from what I've read.
Get ready to be disappointed.
When was the last time a console sold out and was hard to get? Hasn't been since the original Wii. The PS4 Pro has had no marketing.
Doubt it not in city centres anyway lol

I don't see the pro selling out but the original PS4 sold out when it was released. Stores got drip fed stock for a while as Sony couldn't produce them fast enough.
You can try, but I doubt you'll pick this up new £50 less.
Pick mine up on launch day, already sold my vanilla PS4 so ready and waiting !!
On question though, not seen this covered anywhere, can you tell by looking at your PSN friends list who has a Pro and who hasnt ?. You can (or used to) see who subscribed to PSN by a small symbol on your avatar - just wondering if there's something similar for Pros ?

No there isn't AFAIK.
Ordered mine for £299 but I doubt any retailers will be selling it for that price a long while yet.
Nope, Sony made it clean they dont want to divide the fan base. So even that would show they are. Doesn't make a difference if you are playing a multiplayer game on the Pro or standard PS4 anyway.

John Lewis's online stock goes on sale today, £332.49, 2 year JL warranty, excellent customer service, free C&C or 5 day delivery.
On the John Lewis site it says "Collect+ from a local shop from tomorrow
Find out more" I'm guessing that's just a generic message and it's to collect on Thursday 10th?
In principal i'm in, but only after some user feedback on noise levels. Apparently the speed of the cooling fan itself isn't too bad but it's rather 'whiney'. If that's the case I'll be staying away, it may sound petty but noise is a big issue in a small room, at least for me.
