PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Tempted... just got a new 4k hdr telly and if the games will look half as pod as movies then it leads beats the 1200p 3770k pc I sold recently for basically cost or cpu alone

Tempted to buy one. I was looking into buying a gaming laptop but I don't see the point now. Can it get through work for £280. Worth it?

For £280 I'd definitely get it. if you don't like it you can probably still sell it in 2-3 months time for 0 loss at this price. Can you get 2?;)

Really can't make my mind up on this, I've sold my PS4 last week, haven't used it in over 6 months. Really looking forward to the game Dayz gone, but should I buy a console for one game, I can get everything else on my PC, but miss the odd gaming session on the sofa, suppose I could get watchdogs 2 to tide me over, is it all worth it. Have a 4k HDR Panny ready to go.

Never really used the PS4 as I couldn't stand 900p upscaled, looked gash, with the pro this will be fixed.

I felt the same but took the plunge. I use my pc 90% of the time for games but there are a number of games coming like last guardian, days gone, res evil 7, hero dawn but a few coming out plus watch dogs like you said. I would get that on the pc but if it's pants at least you can sell it on the PS4

I'm in the same boat, sold my PS4 on Sunday, I haven't gamed on it since Uncharted 4, it gets more use for Netflix and Now TV.

I've cancelled my pre order and will wait until Horizon Zero Dawn is released and upgrade our Sony KDL-55 1080p to a 4k HDR Sammy (they seem to have the lower input lag), this will give me time to do some homework as to which HDR TV will give me the best results with out breaking the bank :D.

I'm thinking there won't be much difference between the Pro and the PS4 in 90% of titles other than an increase from 900p to 1080p

EVH5150 your steam name rings a bell, years ago were we in a clan can't even remember the game, either FMJ or XG?

I think it too early to say as to what we are are going to get in terms of developer support, those standard games without patches are going to play exactly the same as the standard PS4, unlike the Xbox Ones S which had a little boost in performance on most titles, I think those titles built from the ground up with the Pro in mind are going to be the best in terms of visuals and performance, but they are not out until next year.

So far it looks to be as if Rise of the Tombraider is by far the best supported title, giving you various options from the 4k checkerboard, to and uncapped frame rate in 1080p or the 1080p 30fps capped and all the bells and whistles turned on version.

Oh and we had quite a few bashes on The Division with Gregster, until the grind got too much :D.

Something has me a little confused. Can anyone clear this up?

Display options:
2160p YUV420 which is 4:2:0
2160p RGB + HDR 4:4:4 isn't possible at 60Hz

Surely the point of HDR is to use the best colour space i.e. 4:4:4. Why would I want to use HDR with 4:2:0?

Seems to me the best option here would be 2160p30 with HDR. But what about the 4K60 hdr titles Sony are advertising?

There are a few pages on GAF about this, I skipped through most of it...the science behind it baffled me, They recommend to leave the settings on Automatic.

I used to fairly clued up on all this.

Are there adapters allowing hdmi to displayport? Only have 4K monitor.

Though, I'd be happy if it allowed game to run better at 1080p - and actually 1080p.

Still have my copy of BF1, and think if I could run it well at actual 1080p with good fps... then I may keep it.

Only had PS4 a few months... maybe should have avoided oculus rift and got this and psvr.

For the price of £350 to be able to perform at this level should be congratulated. My Pc (not including my monitor), cost over £1500, for a £350 console to come even close is an amazing achievement.

The two formats should not be compared, it's like comparing a top of the range merc to a i10. They are both cars, drive and steer so should they be compared against each other??? Nope they are not as it would be a false comparison.

Look at it for what it is, a £350 device with some amazing exclusives and more to come that is capable of producing pc like graphics. Well done Sony!

yes and no

to make the best of it you also need a 4k tv, those things are not cheap.

On a pc if you play at 1440p you can use native res 1440p, on the ps4 you either output at 4k or 1080p and below.

Unpatched games will downgrade the hardware to equal base ps4 performance so in terms of value its been overhyped.

For people interested in 4k gaming tho and have no PC, it can be considered a good option.

I have been looking for an adapter as well, but I dont think there is an adapter avaible for HDMI to Display Port 1.2 yet. Follow the link below, quite a few other people are requesting club-3d to make one.

http://insights.club-3d.com/thread/hdmi-2-0-to-displayport-1-2-2/

If anyone else has found an adaptor on the market, please share a link.

HDR is independent of Chroma sampling.

With all the people on Youtube that already have this, it's killing me that nobody has shown some BF1 conquest footage. I really want to see how much/if the frame rate is improved by this.
