PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Mines shipped this morning. Anyone using a 2016 range LG tv? find the HDR a little limiting when it kicks in, can't change a few settings kind of annoying - Especially as it considers HDR a 'scene'.

I wonder what my chances are of getting a pro from Argos tomorrow. Has to be Argos as I have vouchers.

I can't really see the point in continuing to make the PS4 slim unless they could sell it for £199 or less

Diablo 3 will look the same, there are no plans to implement a Pro patch as of yet, sadly.

Yep. One thing that puzzles me is, my TV upgrades a 1080P signal, so if the pro sends out a 4k signal for an unpatched game will it actually look better then your TV upscale?

My TV does everything 4K(Netflix, Amazon etc.) so I can't find a good excuse to get this tomorrow, apart from the physical power button! Was hoping games like Bloodbourne would simply run much smoother without a patch.

Be interesting to see the feedback from you guys who get it tomorrow.

Well, I won't be able to confirm of difference to stock ps4 but bit the bullet and ordered pro. managed to get a good deal with Very with 10% discount paid by debit card via chat so getting the ps4 pro with additional controller and 1 year psn account for 380£. Apparently delivery tomorrow as well. Got a copy of d3 as well on the way so will compare quality to high end pc @1200 vs 4k tv as I played extensively on PC with maxed out details.

Bah! Rainforest out of stock. Cancelled and got it for £332 from a well known high street Supermarket, collection tomorrow after 3pm.

Guys I really need some help deciding between buying a Slim or a Pro!

I have never owned a PS4 before. I have a PS Vita already for remote play. In terms of budget, I *can* afford either machine, but with two little ones running around money is pretty tight at home.

If I bought a Pro, I'd be playing on a 1080p screen for the foreseeable future, until gaming 4K TV's drop price drastically. Depending on how quickly prices fall, it could be several years before I can justify investing in a 4K TV.

I'm interested in the Slim because I know there will likely be some really nice bundle deals on Black Friday. This obviously won't be the case with Pro, with it just having released.

So my question is this... would you, in my situation, either:

1. Buy a slim cos you've got a 1080p screen with no intention to upgrade any time soon and then when/if you do invest in a 4K TV, trade in your slim and get a Pro at that stage; or

2. Buy a Pro now because it's future proofed and looks like it is going to display games on 1080p screens sharper and/or with extra bells/whistles/framerates depending on what developers patch into old games/include with new games and don't worry about the 4K aspect of the machine?

Personally, as i own both currently. I would say in your situation a SLIM is more than enough. Assuming black Friday deals i think its a no brainer.

Just to make things more confusing, I would go with the Pro - especially if you foresee upgrading at a later point. Better image quality and/or frame rate is a big plus - the latter being my biggest gripe with the PS4 since day one.

Imho if buying new I'd get the pro for just 100£ more, however if money is tight I'd consider a 2nd hand ps4 which you can nowadays get for 100-150. Don't think the slim I'd worth it unless you get some sort of amazing deal like console + 2 controllers + 2-3 games for 230£.

I would also say Pro. Games from this point forward in time will look better on the Pro and you will see benefits even in 1080p, whether that be extra scene complexity in graphics or FPS boost.

Also, you may decide to upgrade to 4K earlier. I have a strong feeling that next year we will see decent 4K gaming TVs come down in price, with much more choice available. Right now, there is literally only one TV available which offers good value for money and which ticks all the boxes (10bit, true HDR).
