Revolutionise??? Doesn't the 360 already do all of this?

You missed out '..on the PLAYSTATION®Network'. :p

What games let you map your own face to them :)

At least one of the Tony Hawk's games on the PS2 did, I dunno if there are any others.

Edit: In fact, stop being a damn pitfa will you?

All these games had face mapping on the PS2.

* This Is Football 2005 (Sony, 2004)
* Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (Activision, 2004)
* EyeToy: Play 2 (Sony, 2004)
* Formula One 05 (Sony, 2005)
* Gretzky NHL 2005 (EA, 2004)
* World Tour Soccer 2006 (Sony, 2005)
* AFL Premiership 2005 (Sony, released early September 2005.)
* AFL Premiership 2006 (Sony, released early July 2006.)
* Gaelic Games: Football
* MLB 2005 (989 Sports, 2003)
* MLB '06: The Show (Sony, 2006)
* Karaoke Revolution Party (Konami, 2005)
* Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (Activision, 2005)

sorry should have said face mapping that actually looks like your face once its done :) I asked a simple question no need to get irate about it dude :) the fact you had to go look it up shows its not something most people know.

Here we go again.

Id be 90% certain that originally when this was announced it was going to be a Hi Def camera. I remember thinking cool because thats whats disappointing with the X360 one with it being limited to 640x480.

So same performance as the x360 one, how revolutionary indeed.
Sony really need to sort out their online gaming, im very disapointed in the online options compared to the simpleness of friend comunication within the blades on 360.

Not very exciting this at all and considering the X360 cam works on the PS3 (well it used to, if you google???) why buy it particulary if you own a 360. You may as well get one that will work on both systems and a PC too.

No price announced with this?
btw i loved the "all in one slickly designed, unobtrusive unit." or the "where you can turn your media into professional looking movies" comments within the blurb.

geez you 360 fanboys and ps3 haters will start bitchin over anything, it's a camera for christ sake, and yes it is ugly. And as ms pr like to state you have a choice don't like it don't buy it. you guys always bring a smile to my face with your crazy zealot type behaviour, calm down dear it's just a camera

no, but when everything is measured against 360 and how it does it already, cheaper or if 360 doesn't have a feature then it is surplus, not needed, irrealevant to gaming or being forced on us by sony responses well they smack of bias and one sided views or negative opinions just for the sake of it spells quite often either fanboy or hater

I think the one you are thinking of the eyetoy IP HD camera something or other they showed off in the past. This is not that product.

Performance wise it looks better than the 360 one, from the specs.
It looks like it can do a much higher frames per second 640*480 video (60 as opposed to the 30 that the 360 one can do). Also it has wider/larger FOV so I guess it means it can "see" a wider area. Also the 360 one has no microphone functions.

Seems silly to say the performance is the same as the 360 one when it is not released and on paper it has better specs really.

Of course the real clincher is how it is implemented into games. I can honestly say I have never played Camera based game on 360 or PS2 or PC.

I don't understand how people can criticise any of it (except aesthetics obviously) before it is released with just specs to go on.

With regards to getting one if you own a 360 one, at present USB cameras work on PS3, but just as Cameras from what I understand, ie no motion detection etc that will be used in games. I doubt the target audience is people who own 360's and PS3's and 360 Camera's anyway ;)

I dont think their will be that much difference in quality compared to many PC or the X360 camera tbh.

30 fps or 60 fps when your looking at a small windowed 640x480 area, cos i doubt it will offer fullscreen particulary as upscaling isnt one of Sonys strengths with the console. or that matter i suppose the x360 one doesnt for chatting so i found that disapointing too.

The main benifit of such a device is for chatting or people abroad etc can easily talk. Games, well Microsft talked big when they released theirs but it hasnt really been used that much and probably best in RB6. FM2 was rumoured at one time to support it but how wasnt ever said and nothings been said since.

Whats happening to the IPHD cam then, has it been canned?

Again, never used an eyetoy, but I know the first one was very popular and had quite a few games I think. This time round I'm gonna try it out. I'm hoping the scaling issue is resolved before this comes out and you can use it full screen. (I have a 720P panel so the scaling issue is my biggest bugbear as I have to watch Blu-Rays in 1080i which is scaled).

I reckon the IP HD camera will be to PS3 what GT Mobile is to PSP. :D

Put your face in game?...rightttttttt!

Frankly I don't care about the camera.

I didn't buy my 360 to play little crappy camera games, I got it for next-gen content with the addition of Xbox Live.

Same goes for the PS3, I won't be buying the camera it's just a crap gimmick which won't be any better than your average Webcam.

think about how much HD cameras cost

then think how much a small one would cost

then think about how much everyone on this forum moans about RIP OFF SONY , OVERPRICED ****.

all people would do is moan if they released a HD camera , even if they sold it for less than they where making them for

HD webcams are only about 30 squid. Probably around the same as this one is likely to cost.
