With Autumn well and truly upon us, what better way to shrug off the gathering gloom than by looking forward to a great month of PlayStation Plus content? And, I hope you agree, it is indeed something of a whopper, with two massive blockbuster games coming to your Instant Game Collection, along with a weird and wonderful PSN platformer from Sega.

First things first, as of tomorrow Plus members get free access to Hell Yeah! Wrath of Dead Rabbit. As should be made evident by the trailer below, it’s an absolutely insane side-scroller that sees you step into the shoes of a demonic rabbit hell-bent on vengeance after pictures of him in the shower make it onto the internet. It’s been picking up some great reviews – make sure you check it out.

Next up, on 10th October, you can get your hands on EA‘s lunatic shooter Bulletstorm. Released to widespread acclaim last year, it’s a larger-than-life space shooter with a hugely addictive combat system that lets you customise your kills. Oh, and it’s also ruder than a Gordon Ramsay vs. Ray Winstone swear-off. You have been warned.

Also on 10th October, you can grab yourself Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. That’s Capcom’s massive 2009 zombie shooter, with all post-launch DLC and Move support. Can’t say fairer than that. Get it downloaded, then compare and contrast with Resi 6, which launches on PlayStation 3 today.
In addition to all this, we’ll also be bringing you a range of additional deals, themes and avatars as the month progresses. For more details on those, please keep an eye on our weekly Store update posts, but here are a few to get you started:

3rd October: Spelunker HD – 50% off the full game and 50% off various DLC packs for two weeks

10th October: Derrick the Deathfin – 30% off

17th October: Dogfight 1942 – 50% off a bundle including the full game and two DLC packs

24th October: Hell Yeah! Wrath of Dead Rabbit – 20% off DLC packs
Finally, here’s a recap of which games will be removed from your Instant Game Collection this month:

3rd October: Red Dead Redemption

10th October: Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light

10th October: Saints Row 2
See you back here next month – we’ve got some great content lined up already, with the service due to expand onto PS Vita.

Hmm, not sure i'd call Bulletstorm a "blockbuster", but never mind.

EDIT: Starhawk is a 9.5gb download (as the multiplayer is seperate, and not free on PS+

Oh, hang on. What's the story with Bulletstorm's multiplayer? Don't you need an online pass for it? Wonder if they're giving it to us or we have to fork out for it. MP is quite fun but I don't want to pay £10 for the privilege. :(

you'd think they would have removed that in the digital version. There was no code required for Dead Space 2, and i remember getting a code in the retail box with that.

Just downloading Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition and Bulletstorm :) they aren't yet showing on the front page or in the PS+ part but if you search them out, they already show as free.

Res5 is 7.5gb and Bulletstorm is 6gb

nice, had forgotten it was today.

But when God damn it WHEEEEENNNN!!!!!

My mate told me today about PSN plus members getting KOF for free, I nearly dropped, what a great free game, then I found out its only the states.

This is a disgrace, the need to be consistent with both US and EU or its just going to cause constant outrage. Makes no sense (unless its some a Licensing issue.)

Just pi**** me right off

in general we seem to have faired better than the states recently with PS+ (have a look on the blog for many unhappy yanks)

Is anyone else having issues with the downloads for RE5 and Bulletstorm? Tried to go to the PS+ section of the store and it just bombs out after a short while. Managed to get RE5 by searching but when I try Bulletstorm it comes back with an error saying that it cannot download it on this account. Maybe it's something to do with the revamp of the store. Just checking if anyone else is having the same issues.

is the PS firmware up to date?, had no issues downloading either of them.

PS+ November game of the month is Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 lands on PlayStation Plus in November!
Countries: AE, AU, GB, IE, NZ

Hi everyone! We here at Sony Computer Entertainment are very excited to announce that the headline title for the PlayStation Plus service from 7th November is… Crysis 2!
Originally released in March 2011, the second installment in the multi award-winning Crysis series is a visually stunning, high-concept FPS with a gripping storyline written by sci-fi veteran Richard Morgan.
Set in the year 2023, three years after the events of Crysis, you’ll find yourself in control of a Force Recon Marine named “Alcatraz”, who gains ownership of the Nanosuit 2.0 from Army Delta Force officer Laurence “Prophet” Barnes, who many of you will remember from Crysis.

8122101673_0b6e7d8a4b.jpg

The violent alien race from the original game has returned, with a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of mankind. In New York, the invaders stalk the streets and a nightmare plague strikes down the city’s inhabitants. The city’s infrastructure is in ruins, while its streets and skyline are smashed and in flaming ruin. This is New York City like you’ve never seen it before.

Neither law enforcement nor the might of the US military machine can stand against the invaders, and all who choose not to flee are dead men walking. One supersoldier, wielding the combat enhancement technology of the future with Nanosuit 2, will make the last stand to save humanity from destruction in the urban jungle that is New York City.
Newcomers to the series are in for a treat – this is one of the smartest, most exciting shooters of the past few years. “It’s challenging, facilitates and then demands the use of tactics, and is more generous in scale than almost any other first-person shooter of the past few years,” said Eurogamer, while IGN judged it “a beautiful, engrossing experience.”

We are extremely excited to bring this title to PlayStation Plus for our subscribers. If you’re not currently a member, visit the Plus page on PlayStation.com for everything you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 10 games at any one time and over 45 games across the course of a 12 month subscription. That’s for a one-off annual payment of just £39.99.
And Crysis 2 is but the tip of the iceberg. Look out for more details of the rest of the November Plus content very soon, including details of the service’s impending expansion to PS Vita. We’ve got some fantastic titles coming your way!

Firstly, as I’m sure you are aware, we got a little excited and announced back on October 26th that we were bringing Crysis 2 to Plus as of November 7th. Crysis 2 is visually stunning and has a gripping storyline so make sure you check it out! For more details make sure you check out the previous blog……….CRYSIS 2!!
Also releasing on November 7th we have Ratchet and Clank All 4 One. For the first time this action / platformer game allows players to play as Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, or even Dr. Nefarious in co-op gameplay. In four-player story quests, you must work together, using each character’s unique skills as well as sharing weapons between players, in order to solve puzzles and eliminate the opposition.

Finally, releasing on the same day we have the extremely addictive Cubixx HD. This fast paced puzzle game has 50 arcade levels to work through along with 50 challenges to test your skills! If that isn’t quite for you, you can take on the world with 150 online leader boards available or join forces with your friends in the seven-player co-op mode. But if you’re feeling in a destructive mood just destroy each other in the seven-player death match!
Make sure you give this a go as I’m sure you will agree that this simple, fun, extremely addictive game is a must play for anyone who loves a challenging puzzle.

Below is a list of what will be removed from the Instant Games Collection this month:

Just read the next big game will be Batman Arkham City. Any truth behind that I wonder!

Along with Vanquish and Limbo apparently, but I can't see any official links so not sure where this is coming from.

PlayStation Plus: Your December content

1-3.jpg

Hello everyone! It’s that time of year again when snows starts to cover the ground; fairy lights and mince pies take over the world and everyone is a little bit merrier! So, what better way to get in the mood than by divulging the latest PlayStation Plus content coming your way throughout December?
I hope you’re excited as we are about the content line-up for this month, as we bring you a critically-acclaimed AAA blockbuster, an epic sci-fi shooter and a phenomenal puzzle platformer – and that’s just the PS3 content!
So, let’s kick off with a big one. We’re very happy to announce that from 5th December we’ll be offering the stunning Batman: Arkham City as your headline title for the next four weeks!
Delivering a genuinely authentic Batman experience that takes you deep inside the diseased heart of Gotham City, critics universally agreed that this is a shining example of what a superhero game should be. I don’t think it needs much more of an introduction – just play it and find out for yourself.
Also out on 5th December, we are pleased to announce that we have secured the beautifully designed LIMBO from the hugely talented Danish developer Playdead. This wonderfully eerie platformer takes you on a challenging journey through hostile environments, overcoming a series of physical puzzles and deadly traps in an effort to learn the fate of your sister.
It’s one of the most critically-acclaimed downloadable games ever and packs a real emotional punch – check it out as soon as you can.

To round off your PS3 content for December we have secured Vanquish, the stunning third person shooter from developer Platinum Games and publisher SEGA. Directed by Shinji Mikami – the creator of the Resident Evil series – it’s a sci-fi shooter that sees you take on the role of Sam, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battlesuit. Fast, fun, fluid and utterly frenetic, if you’re after a rush of pure gaming, Vanquish is the game for you.

And that brings me onto the next section of my update – your upcoming PS Vita content. From 19th December your headline title will be the latest version of a classic franchise: Mortal Kombat. Developed at series creator Ed Boon’s NetherRealm Studios, critics agreed it was a stunning return to form and one of the finest brawlers in recent years. A gritty, gruesome treat lies in wait!

Your second piece of PS Vita content, launching on 21st December, is beautiful puzzle platformer Knytt Underground – the exciting follow-up to indie hit Knytt Stories. Boasting over 1,800 rooms to explore and multiple story-driven quests to complete, this one should keep you occupied well into 2013.

I guess that’s it folks! Look out for an update just before Christmas on your January content, but until then enjoy the December offerings.
Actually, hold on! I almost forgot we have a little extra surprise coming your way!
We’ve been working hard with publisher Ripstone to bring Knytt Underground to the PS Vita Plus service for a while now, but because we’re feeling in the Christmas mood we’ve also arranged to bring you the game on PS3 too, through our PlayStation Plus Presents line. Like the PS Vita version, it will be available from 21st December and will support Cross Buy so you can make the most of your extra 1GB storage and play at home and on the move!
But that’s not all! As we believe Christmas really is a time for giving, as of 12th December we will also be bringing you Big Sky Infinity, a stunning shoot ‘em up from the development teams at VooFoo Studios and Boss Baddie. Like Knytt, this title also supports Cross Buy so you can enjoy it on both PS3 and PS Vita.

We’ll have developer Blog posts soon looking at both Knytt Underground and Big Sky Infinity in greater detail – stay tuned.
As usual, you can also expect exclusive PS Plus discounts on lots of titles (including the phenomenal Rayman Origins), as well as an exclusive PS Plus members-only demo of DmC: Devil May Cry later in December. We’ll update you on these offers in the weekly Store posts.
If you are not currently a Plus member, visit our PlayStation Plus site to find out more about the service. Here you’ll learn all you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 14 games at any one time, and over 65 games across the course of a 12 month subscription – all for a one-off payment of just £39.99.
I think that really is it this time, so I am signing off for now! Enjoy your games!
