Plea to ban motorists washing their cars in the street.

Sad people with nothing better to do. Geniuinely hope this ban doesn't happen though, just took delivery of another £40 worth of cleaning/detailing products this weekend :/ Nothing better than spending a hungover Saturday afternoon cleaning the car!

They have this law in areas of Germany already and they have car wash zones with designated areas where you can go to clean your car. Rows of jet washes and hoovers where you can turn up with your detailing kit. For those of us who lack the space to wash our cars I look forward to it, there's also the aspect of it keeping costs down, water is a scarce resource that will costs more and more money to use, we'll all be on meters soon.
 
Mechanical car washes are subject to regulation because of the quanity of cleaning product they use, not the product itself.

I really doubt that washing your car by hand does that much damage to the environment, and if it does its to your own garden anyway.
