Right, My mate made a dance track and is wanting some feedback for it.

Hes been doing things like things for years but has never really had the Internet much to see what people think about it from around the world to give him hints and tips.

He gave me his myspace URL and his track he made so can you lot leave him a few comments and constructive criticism either on here or on his myspace :)

heres the URL to his myspace
www.myspace.com/mys2j

And heres a Direct download to the track

Thanks :)

it sounds good, after 2 minutes in, but I really hate the chord progression used, and the places where there needs to be some sort of progression there isn't one if you follow me

Firstly, oh god the mp3 compression, get your mate to upload it at a higher bitrate!

Secondly, sorry, can't say i like this. The track itself is far too cheesy for my liking but i could imagine it fitting into a clubland CD, it's got that kind of sound.

As far as improving the track goes i would definitely lose the breakdown between 2:55 - 3:49 it adds absolutely nothing to the track and in a club environment i can just imagine people standing around for a minute waiting for it to start back up again. Personally i would lose the rest of the breakdown after 3:49 as well, purely because i think you lose too much energy but i know a lot of producers are reluctant to go without a breakdown. If you were to lose the breakdown entirely you'd need to be quite creative with the direction of the track.

Another thing i might suggest is having a faster and possibly more uplifting melody, you've got this really fast moving bassline type thing that just doesn't seem to fit with the main riff.

Another thing (sorry i keep thinking of bits to add) after 40 seconds a sound that's on the offbeat to the kick drum comes in. I can best describe it as tapping 2 bits of wood together, the kind you get in secondary school music classes. Basically get rid of it, it just sounds far too cheesy. And since i've mentioned kick drum i'd also suggest making it a little bit more prominent although that might be due to the mp3 compression.

I hope any of that helps and sorry if i sound a little harsh :)
