So it seems my boiler just doesnt want to light.
After a Reset and turning back on I get a flashing fault light which I am having difficulty identifying But I think it is flame failure.
I dont know any corgi engineers and have heard lots of horror stories of people getting ripped off.
What should I do ?
Is it right I can join British gas homecare and they will fix it for me as long as I agree to stay with them for a defined period ?

Go onto the corgi website I think it is gas safe or something and you will find a corgi registered engineer in your area. Are you sure your system is upto pressure google the boiler and the fault code and it should tell you the fault.
Don't open it and fiddle inside.

hi thanks for the advice
The system is up to pressure and the fault code identification is slighly confusing but I believe it is flame failure

Does the gas hobs still work. To check your gas is still flowing.
My parents once thought there gas had been cut off and the problem was the cat had somehow turned the gas off at the meter. (using the lever to climb onto a ledge in the garage)

The new registration service is called the gas safe register.

Do you have any sort of reward bank account? Some of them give home breakdown cover.

Take the outer cover off and see if the pilot lights on ignition, if it does , then cuts out, its probably the flame sensor

My Parents had a similar thing with their Ideal Boiler. The thing wouldnt light up (sometimes would with the reset button). It turned out to be the spark generator unit. Think it cost about £25 to replace.

This problem is very common with this model of baxi boiler.

Do a google for the name of the boiler with "lockout" in the search box and you will find lots of useful information
