Hi,

As some of you know I recently purchased a g4 powermac mdd. I have since swapped it into a brand new case with a new psu. I have also added 2gb of crucial ram as well as a new Ati Radeon 9700 pro graphics card.

I finally got it all sorted yesterday turned it on and nothing

I've had a look at everything and it all seems fine. I then removed the graphics card and a white light now illuminates on the power switch when pressed but it still doesn't power the system up.

Can anyone help me at all. Why would the graphics card stop it working? Why does the white light come on but the system won't boot up?

Please help save me a lot of trouble and money.

Many thanks

I assume it's the Mac version of the video card and not the "normal" one?

ooops.

i've since removed everything installed it in the old case with the old psu and everything works ok I think, well it powers up anyway and the fans run etc. if i install the graphics card the computer won't start so i figured its that. looking in to things more i realise the graphics card is the wrong one  so i'm going to have to buy a new ati radeon 9600 pro mac edition and not a normal 9700 pro. the joys of being a newbie!

I think i'll go for a 9600 or 9700 pro mac version as with my luck already I'll only destroy the card if I start messing with it. Hopefully then will it run properly.

Would this problem stop the mac from starting or could it still be bust?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going to be using the mac for now as a sort of htpc music server so want a decentish card as it'll be connected to my samsung 42" tv via a dvi-hdmi cable.

I'm in the process of trying to get my graphics card flashed.
