please help me or im gona bang my head repeatedly against wall

hi
my specs were
8600gt
amd ahtlon 64 2.2 gig
550 w psu
3 gig ram ddr2
my temps were
cpu 39
vid card 50 idle 62 load

my new specs are geforce 8800gts
3 gig ram
550 *** psu
amd athlon x2 2gig cpu

my temps are now
cpu 45
vid card 72 idle 85 load

the big git of a video card is making me hot.the room temps 30 in uk.
i have 3 fans front rear side.
i have rivatuner on 100 perc ent fan control.
strangely enuf ive just taken the fan off the case that was pointing at the vid card and pointed it at the mobo and ive lost 7 degrees its now 65 idle????not 72.why does a new 200 pounds vid card also push up cpu temp and case?
whats going on?
and by god are these big crazy cards always this hot?
ive heard they are.

Welcome to the forums, and the world of high-power computing.

Big graphics cards do have that 'halo' effect of chewing up more power and spitting it out as heat. The effect you've seen is more pronounced than I'd have guessed, but no surprise, either way.

If you think that the G80 core dumps about 80W of heat either into or out of your case, that's somewhere to start!

Not to mention it's a dual core CPU now which will run hotter
